Job Description:

Security clearance required: TS/SCI Full Scope Poly

Description:

We leverage cutting-edge technical resources to expedite the delivery of open-source data, insights, and information with reliability, security, and speed. We seek a Data Scientist with SME-level experience who will play a crucial role in developing tailored AWS-based solutions to address unique global data collection challenges.

This role involves both independent work and collaboration within a team environment, adapting to the specific needs of each project. The candidate will be integral in architecting, deploying, and maintaining quick-turnaround capabilities for high-visibility and priority data collection initiatives within an AWS environment and other skills spanning computation, storage, and networking services.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect, deploy, and maintain agile and efficient data collection and analysis capabilities within the AWS ecosystem, ensuring they align with project objectives and tradecraft requirements.
  • Collaborate with the client's technical lead and coordinate with mission partners to ensure that the capabilities developed meet all operational requirements and standards.
  • Adhere to best practices and organizational guidelines and utilize approved AWS services to create and maintain scalable and secure collection capabilities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of collected data with predefined data format requirements, employing robust validation methods.
  • Maintain source code integrity within a GitHub repository, ensuring comprehensive documentation and adherence to best practices for code management.
  • Proactively perform operations and maintenance tasks on data collection tools and environments to accommodate changes in collection targets, evolving technologies, data formats, and naming conventions.

Requirements:
  • Strong proficiency in Python and demonstrated experience with geospatial software, programming packages, and data formats.
  • TS/SCI Full Scope Poly security clearance
  • Proven capability in creating, managing, and deploying AWS resources effectively, including but not limited to EC2 instances, Lambda functions, S3 buckets, and IAM policies.
  • Demonstrated experience with geospatial programs and software, as well as data formats.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using GitHub for source code management, version control, and collaborative development.

Optional skills & experience:
  • AWS certifications such as AWS DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect, or SysOps Administrator are highly regarded.
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) for deploying AWS applications. While useful, knowledge of Ansible and Terraform is not a substitute for CDK expertise.
  • Familiarity with building and deploying containerized applications.
  • Experience in building, managing, and utilizing search engines such as ElasticSeach, Lucene, or AWS's OpenSearch, and creating and managing SQL and NO-SQL databases.
  • Exposure to other cloud services beyond AWS, like Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, is advantageous.

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package with 100% company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • The company fully covers comprehensive LTD/STD/Life Insurance benefits.
  • Attractive 401(k) plan with company match, alongside generous holiday, vacation, and sick leave policies.

Our approach combines innovation, expertise, and a commitment to achieving operational excellence. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, deeply committed to creating an inclusive environment that values diversity and equal opportunity for all employees.
