Job Description:

What you will do

Plans, directs and coordinates production planning activities in the procurement, receiving, storage and retrieval of raw materials.  Maintains flow of components and supplies needed for battery production from both internal warehouse storage and external warehouse.  Coordinates transportation between facilities.


  • Orders, expedites and schedules material to support the plant production and inventory plans.


  • Schedules receipts and shipments of materials.


  • Processes and follows up on obsolescence after coordinating phase outs with Corporate Headquarters’ Production Control.


  • Analyzes inventory levels and mix relative to plan.


  • Directs stock rotation and liquidations according to plan.


  • Initiates various selected reports to keep management aware of certain areas in production and inventory control.


  • Takes regular or special physical inventories as directed to audit or correct inventory records to include cycle counts.


  • Instructs and trains personnel to perform work assignments efficiently and effectively.


  • Enforces safety and health regulations and good housekeeping practices.


  • Prepares all required reports.


  • Performs other work as assigned


As a Customer Service Representative, you will receive and processes moderately complex customer orders, inquiries and/or complaints covering items or products ordered. May maintain an ongoing relationship with selected customers and sales staff. Uses knowledge of products, product availability, sales territories, and individual customers to provide a key communications link to the customer.


  • Run customer order reports to proactively get orders shipped.


  • Manage OEM customer accounts including daily shipping releases, creating shipping orders, coordinating with the production Control team.


  • Process change orders, credits, and product return authorizations.


  • Manage OE customer’s special orders.


  • Coordinate Intercompany batteries shipments.


  • Manage and cycle count dunnage (packaging administration).


  • Be available for weekend work including in-office and working from home on assigned weekends, home wi-fi required, be available to cover other shifts as required.


  • Assists customer with questions and issues.


  • Cross train within customer service and production control department


  • All other duties as assigned.


What we look for


  • HS Degree or Equivalency Required, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred


  • 3-5 years’ experience in high volume material expediting (automotive preferred)


  • 3 years customer service experience in a manufacturing environment preferred


  • Knowledge of scheduling and inventory control


  • 2 years’ experience with computerized MRP system; SAP preferred


  • OEM or Tier-1 manufacturing experience preferred


  • Good oral and written communication skills


  • Ability to handle multiple tasks independently with precise detail and follow up


  • Must demonstrate good verbal and written skills as well as the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and management


  • Ability to consistently deliver excellent customer service to both external and internal customers


  • Strong ability to manage time effectively along with strong organizational skills


  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes or equivalent
