IDAHO FOREST GROUP IS SEEKING AN EXPERIENCED CERTIFIED HEAD GRADER LOCATED LACLEDE, ID


Competative Pay Structure from $31.93 per hour DOE. $2.00 per hour shift differential where applicable.  Split Shift.


POSITION SUMMARY


The Head Grader at Idaho Forest Group will oversee a team of certified and non-certified graders, implement quality control measures, and collaborate with other departments to optimize production efficiency and product quality.  This position is responsible for leading and training graders to ensure each grade line conforms to WWPA standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations, and JSAs.

  • Work with WWPA inspectors.

  • Work with optimization technicians to calibrate machines.

  • Coordinate and schedule scanner maintenance visits and upgrades.

  • Pull lumber to check machine grade.

  • Coordinate with the set-up personnel and feeders on quality issues.

  • Track all production and grade numbers, including weekly, monthly, and yearly percentages.

  • Work with dry kiln operators on moisture content/drying issues, assist with drying and shrinkage tests.

  • Examine each piece of lumber and assign grade to lumber.

  • Use tape measure, calipers, moisture meter.

  • Write a legible grade mark.

  • Straighten lumber that may be jammed or crossed up.

  • Report maintenance problems and assist millwrights as needed.

  • Maintain a production level work pace.

  • Other duties as needed.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Certified by WWPA.

  • 2+ year(s) of experience in lumber manufacturing.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Skills:


    • Must know species, lumber grades, length and width.

    • Ability to read a tape measure, calipers, and moisture meter.

    • Experience with Microsoft Suite Products, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

    • Ability to read and understand printed materials.


  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.



    ***Specific job duties and shifts may vary per mill based on machinery.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


    Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs.  Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations, and airborne particles (sawdust).
