The Role

Reporting to the Vice President of Global Marketing, the Senior Global Creative Director is responsible for the brand's creative strategy, visual expression, voice, and its execution across all consumer touchpoints. They are also responsible for the creative for all campaigns and creative assets across paid and owned media, retail, digital, packaging and events required to support the seasonal marketing calendar. The expectation is to drive innovative, bold creative work, and create a cohesive brand visual center that represents the brand globally.

The Senior Director, Global Creative for HOKA is a seasoned creative leader who is innovative and passionate about driving brand and creative strategies, creating inspiring, memorable and consumer centric work that will shape and define the HOKA brand globally for years to come. You will lead a team of multidisciplinary designers, copywriters, producers, and operational team members to deliver creative that elevates and distinguishes the brand and inspires consumers across all HOKA touchpoints. With a strategic orientation, you will deliver a clear, holistic creative vision that is on strategy, on brand and drives results. You'll possess a sharp creative eye, be a strong visionary thought leader, have deep experience working with external agencies, and be an inspiring leader that can develop a full-service inhouse creative team that serves as a center of excellence and ideas for the brand.

Your Impact
Creative Brand Expression


  • Define, evolve, own, and implement the HOKA brand creative vision, strategy and expression, executing it through all consumer access points, channels and placements.

  • Position our brand as a global performance and sport style leader.

  • Engage key stakeholders on the content strategy and ensure delivery of the global HOKA visual strategy, styling ethos and brand visual guidelines.

  • Elevate the creative expression of the brand to a new level of bold, innovative, and distinct expression of the brand and product.

  • Develop brand standards and visual language that includes logo, brand colors, photography and motion direction and other elements that influence the visual identity and brand voice for HOKA, ensuring all creative outputs maintain brand consistency globally.

  • Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance. Ensure that brand guidelines and campaign guidelines are updated regularly.

  • Enhance storytelling for the brand and products that align to HOKA target consumers, purpose, principles, values, and origin story.

  • Oversee the creation of brand experiences across various digital and physical touchpoints.

  • Collaborate with regions, provide guard rails and partner with them on creative work and approvals.

  • Partner with insights to stay informed on our consumer segments and trends, ensuring HOKA continues to attract, retain and serve through relevant and targeted marketing strategies.

Global Campaign Development, Content & Communications Strategy


  • Lead, optimize and oversee the creative process - leading and concepting campaign briefs and partnering with agencies to lead the execution of multi-year, seasonal, and evergreen campaign work.

  • Partner with global brand and product marketing and cross functional teams to receive briefs and lead the creative response to the briefs.

  • Partner with brand communications on creative solutions to drive consistency and innovation across PR/social channels and experiences.

  • Act as creative counsel to external AOR and internal global marketing leaders in development of campaigns.

  • Ensure global asset creation in partnership with North America, APAC and EMEA.

  • Lead all seasonal directives for creative assets.

  • Ensure casting is in line with the HOKA brand visual direction.

  • Engage cross functional stakeholders in the vision, supporting the business case and driving alignment.

  • Lead a close working relationship with omni (ecomm and retail), product marketing, product design, integrated marketing, brand communications, sports marketing and creative operations for toolkit production.

  • Develop and manage the annual creative budget, ensuring cost-efficiency without compromising on the quality of creative.

Digital and Social Transformation


  • Lead the development and evolution of the creative strategy for HOKA.com and DTC marketing efforts - with a focus on the consumer journey and digital first design.

  • Help reimagine and create online experiences.

  • Collaborate with Social and PR to help align social and PR content within the brand universe.

Retail Brand Expression


  • Lead, conceptualize, design, and produce all creative content for retail

  • Conceptualize and design HOKA retail details - evergreen instore assets that show up in wholesale, DTC retail and pop-up environments

  • Create and lead the seasonal retail visual strategies.

  • Work with cross functional peers to ensure brand/sports marketing events and retail execution are on brand.

  • Create trade marketing materials in support of wholesale accounts as well as seasonal dealer catalogs and selling materials.

Innovation & Best Practice


  • Drive a culture of tech innovation by bringing in new ways to be digital first, and educate team and partners on emerging trends and best practices.

  • Contribute to ongoing development, evaluation and improvement of content creation, communication planning, and digital channel management.

  • Drive collaboration across functions, fostering a trusting culture where people listen openly to the ideas of others, look for possibilities, take risks, ask for help when needed, and assume accountability for their contributions.

  • Keep abreast of best practices in branding, marketing, content and digital communication.

  • Build and optimize our creative processes to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of work.

  • Asses and drive implementation of new systems, solutions, and partners to make creative function a center of excellence globally.

Team and Cross Functional Leadership


  • Instill and reinforce the highest standards for collaboration and teamwork within HOKA and across the Deckers' brand portfolio, with the goals of identifying synergies, fostering idea sharing and establishing common goals for profitable growth and continuous innovation.

  • Act as a player/coach, fostering an environment of inclusion and belonging where all employees feel valued and motivated, where differences are embraced, and everyone feels empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to work. Champion best practices to improve representation and diversity at HOKA.

  • Develop, motivate, mentor and retain top talent; engage the HOKA team in ways that will facilitate the achievement of the brand's strategic objectives.

  • Champion and ensure progressive employee development practices that provide HOKA employees with clear roles, goals, development plans, and visible career paths within Deckers.

  • Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices across functions to promote a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork across departments to achieve business results.

  • Infuse a mindset and practice of accountability, humility, exceptional service, and cooperation.

Who You Are


  • Thinks creatively and strategically as well as is able to manage execution.

  • Strong ability in brand campaign development.

  • Expertise in digital creative disciplines with a strong understanding of social, UX needs and how to optimize creative across channels.

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) and presentation software (Keynote, PowerPoint) and competent in MS Office applications. Familiarity with project and asset management tools a plus.

  • Experienced in retail marketing/creative.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills that can be adapted for audiences across regions and at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to anticipate project workload demands and scale resources by hiring freelancers as needed.

  • Ability to succeed in a matrix organization through influence, partnership and respect for shared and differing objectives.

  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player.

  • Exhibits a high level of personal integrity, empathy, and respect for others.

We'd love to hear from people with


  • BA Graphic Design or relevant related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 15+ years' experience successfully leading and executing strategic creative direction and design, including managing the photography art direction and cross channel expression for leading consumer brands

  • Experience at the most senior creative leadership level in an in-house creative team or agency

  • 10+ years practical experience leading a team of multidisciplinary creatives at varying levels of experience

  • Performance footwear and apparel industry experience preferred

$240,000 - $250,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
