Job Description:

We are seeking an inspiring and collaborative leader to be the Manager of the Adult & Family programs team within the Experiences & Partnership Division. Qualified candidates will have experience in supervision, program development, and audience engagement and will be excited to lead a dynamic and creative team.  The Adult & Family Programs team plans, develops, coordinates and implements experiences such as public events for adults and multigenerational audiences (including after-hours events), facilitated activities within permanent and temporary exhibitions, Free Days, and programming and performances offered by community partners and organizations.   The Museum’s Experiences & Partnerships Division creates and delivers Museum experiences including exhibits, digital media products, events, and programs that connect guests to science, nature, and the Museum in ways that are meaningful to them. 

Job Class: Full time
Hiring Range: $68,000 - $75,000/annually 
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends. Onsite with potential for occasional remote days after onboarding process

Essential Duties


  • Collaboration, Vision, and Leadership: Collaborates with division management and directors to ensure efficient processes and effective prioritization of shared projects.  

  • Strategic Alignment: Sets direction for adult and multigenerational programming with team, stakeholders, and community. Ensures all staff and volunteer led experiences are audience-centered, accurate and age-appropriate, aligned with Museum mission, Museum-wide priorities, strategic objective, and diversity, equity, access and inclusion (DEAI) practices.  

  • Staff Supervision and Development: Builds a culture of engagement and collaboration, clearly communicates expectations, and provides on-going feedback and learning opportunities to support growth and engagement of individual team members.  

  • Community Partnerships: Forges local and national partnerships that advance the Museum’s mission and goals, mentors staff to develop and sustain strategic partnerships, and shepherds these partnerships from inception to sustainability.  

  • Business Management: Ensures staff have resources and support needed to succeed. Identifies and works to remove barriers to meeting goals. Effectively manages multiple priorities. Supports program coordinators in creating and tracking budgets and attendance projections.  

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.  

  • 5 years experience in program development and audience engagement required.  

  • 3 years experience supervising staff or volunteers required.  

  • Occasional evenings and weekends required.
