The DOT Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the coordination, maintenance, and compliance with Federal (FMCSA/DOT) regulations for all associates driving commercial vehicles.
Ensure all files and programs are consistent with Federal regulations and company policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain required reports for the purpose of supporting proactive FMCSA/DOT compliance.
Maintain Image Driver Qualification Files
Driver Qualifications Medical Cards / Physicals, CDL, Annual Driving Records, Drug screens
Driver Records Processing employment applications, DOT required documents, company policies, CSA, MVR, criminal background, PEV and expiration list processes including driver's license and medical card renewal.
Maintain required FMCSA/DOT records in Workday.
Primary interaction will be with regulated and non-regulated drivers to train, educate and encourage in compliance and safe driving behavior.
This position will be in front of drivers and out in the elements primarily.
Coach and mentor drivers in the completion of Commercial Motor Vehicle inspections
Formal training in classroom setting over various DOT topics.
Maintain the integrity and accuracy of required records.
Maintain and process Motor Vehicle Records
Maintain/Image Authorization and Release forms.
Always represent the company in a professional manner ensuring quality customer service
Maintain timely and open communication with direct manager.
Adherence to strict follow-up procedures
Maintain Sales Driver file requirements and semi-annual audits.
Respond to all DOT Employment verifications.
Manage all DOT positive drug test and SAP program (employment, follow-up, return to duty)
Abide by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
Coach and mentor drivers in the completion of Commercial Motor Vehicle inspections as well as driving technique through observation.
Extensive travel required, up to 60%.
Support corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Certification
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, logistics, transportation management, or a related field
Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations, including FMCSA and CSA guidelines
Experience with safety management systems, HOS regulations, and driver qualification requirements
Familiarity with DOT audits and inspections and a proven track record of successful results
CDER Certification a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and ethical standards.
Must maintain a valid Driver's License.
Ability to travel as needed.
Previous experience in a union environment.
