The Unit Coordinator is part of a team that supports The McLean Franciscan Child & Adolescent Mental Health Programs. The programs are nationally recognized for Providing compassionate care for children, teens, & families in crisis.

Reports to: Director of McLean Franciscan Child & Adolescent Mental Health Programs


General Summary/Overview Statement


Provides administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff in an inpatient unit, functioning as the liaison between the patient, visitors and the clinicians. Expected to effectively organize priorities, complete tasks on time and to manage confidential patient information. Responsible for partnering with nursing to coordinate the day-to-day patient flow including communication to key players regarding patient admissions, discharges and transfers. Also expected to provide outstanding services for every customer interaction. Actual job duties may vary by department.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities


  • Works as an integral member of a dynamic inpatient child & adolescent mental health team

  • Welcomes and interacts with families, patients, and staff.

  • Greets visitors and directs them to appropriate caregivers

  • Works with the intake and admissions team at the hospital to coordinate admissions and communicate admission information to multiple departments and intake clinicians.

  • Handles confidential patient information.

  • Coordinates onboarding of new professional staff.

  • Organizes office and family reception operations and systems.

  • Evaluation of and ordering of supplies

  • Preparation of statistical, operating and administrative reports as required by hospital or external sources.

  • Maintains department fiscal reporting systems and records.

  • May have PeopleSoft Manager Self Service responsibilities, including entering of performance appraisals, employee data changes, terminations, etc.

  • May have UKG timekeeper responsibility, ensuring that information is entered correctly and in a timely fashion.

    • Bachelor's degree preferred and at least 1 year of experience
