We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead our Manufacturing/Packaging Engineering group and oversee engineering projects that support our manufacturing operations. As the leader of this team, you will provide engineering expertise in identifying cost reduction opportunities and driving efficiency improvements. You will collaborate closely with our Product Engineering & Innovation groups to ensure the successful development of products to be manufactured at our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and prioritize manufacturing strategies at the operational level.
- Introduce new manufacturing/packaging technologies to enhance our production facility.
- Lead the installation and qualification of new equipment, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Design manufacturing systems that are highly reliable, efficient, and flexible.
- Identify opportunities for automation to reduce direct labor costs.
- Plan and execute manufacturing/packaging engineering projects.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to identify and implement cost reduction activities.
- Work with the Maintenance group to address equipment failures and contamination issues.
- Foster open communication and collaboration with all operations departments, Project Engineering, Innovation, and Quality teams.
- Ensure alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
- Efficiently manage departmental resources.
- Drive improvements in labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and quality.
- Provide support to manufacturing and facility maintenance activities.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies for energy conservation.
- Ensure compliance with SAI Quality Management system procedures.
- Provide engineering support to maintenance and manufacturing/packaging departments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing and automation environment.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Strong background in managing resources in a continuous manufacturing setting with high-speed equipment.
- Proficiency in high reliability system design and experience with injection molding, robotics, and packaging equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of machine maintenance, including familiarity with basic PLC logic, controls, and hardware.
- Experience with inspection procedures and statistical process control (SPC) analysis.
- Previous experience in engineering management.
Skills:
- Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, CadKey, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Windows, Access Project, and Microsoft Office.
