The Master Machinist will perform a wide range of metal fabricating activities in support of process and equipment development and maintenance, creation of product dies, and tooling and prototyping for new product development. Applying a working knowledge of machine shop fabrication and equipment techniques, this person will: execute assigned projects and duties with minimal supervision; have a working and practical knowledge of general machine shop protocols, and interface with various functional groups including Engineering, Operations, and Quality. This position will support global operations and the advancement of proprietary equipment designs and their affected processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (listing most important first):
? Work independently as well as in a team environment
? Execute specific projects and tasks as laid out by management, in a timely and effective manner
? Maintain work flow within the team unit using independent judgement in solving non-routine problems and recommending solutions
? Fabricate complex mechanical parts and sub-assemblies from (reading) engineering drawings
? Design machine part tooling fixtures and machine setups
? Will use programming software to design tool paths and electronic machining instructions
? Proper use of speeds and feeds for many material types to maximize productivity and tool life
? Keeps up to date on latest technologies and methodologies in metal forming and fabrication
? Helps to support the research and development group in the conceptualization and application of new technologies and new solutions
? Supports the Machine Fabrication Department in providing direction with regard to design questions, the construction and operation of new line equipment and tooling
? Must observe and follow all safety rules, regulations and guidelines
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Education/Experience:
? Graduation/certification from an accredited vocational school or technical college with master level training in the aforementioned areas of machining and metal fabrication; or seven to ten years of relevant work experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
? Minimum of a high school diploma (or GED)
Required Skills:
? Fluent in the safe operation of a range of machine shop equipment including 5 axis CNCs, lathes, mills, surface grinders, EDM- wire and electrode, and others

? Fluent in computer aided design and/or engineering tools including MasterCam, SolidWorks, Enterprise PDM, DraftSight and AutoCAD.
? A fluent understanding of fit and function
? Ability to use a variety of shop measuring tools including pin gauges, micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, and CMM apparatus
? Capable in the use of a large variety of hand and power tools
? Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
? Ability to communicate effectively.
? Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations
? Ability to analyze data, including performing tolerance stack-up analysis for complex mechanical assemblies.
? Ability to apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards to define design data.
? Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills:
? Familiar with general manufacturing and operations systems.
? Experience in thermoplastics, composites and synthetic alloys
? Experience in an extrusion processing environment
