Summary

Global Wafer America (GWA) is building a highly-automated flagship 300mm silicon wafer manufacturing Fab in Texas.

Equipment Automation Engineers blend of three areas of responsibility:
  1. Work with equipment vendors to ensure that new equipment sets come up properly in our brand-new facility.
  2. Extend or enhance physical equipment automation and performance in ways that reduce labor cost, improve capability, safety or reliability, or reduce cost of ownership. Projects cover the full spectrum from designing a collaborative anthropometric robot packaging machine an FFT analysis of acoustical signatures.
  3. Write procedures and formulating tests and writing results in concise formal documents that enable operations and maintenance technicians to perform preventive maintenance and quick, cost-effective repairs.

This is position is for engineers who enjoy hands-on work with physical machines. While software automation is involved - it is less than 40% of the job. Please do not apply if your passion is coding only.

Job Functions
  • Develop and document equipment improvements including projects related to reliable equipment operations, throughput and capacity, reducing operator time investment and cost of ownership.
  • Works with equipment vendors to get new equipment installed, operational, qualified, and working flawlessly.
  • Performs complex data analysis using queries, statistical software, scripts, or machine vision libraries.
  • Effectively team with global equipment vendors, which will occasionally require evening calls and travel abroad.
  • Analyze equipment performance and establish equipment metrics.
  • Captures learning by writing clear, action-oriented, evergreen maintenance procedures, trouble-shooting guides, and Response Flow Charts (RFC).
  • Improve the reliability, capability, safety, or cost-of-ownership of equipment used in the manufacturing line.

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in any Engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability to methodically troubleshoot equipment problems and isolate design flaws.
  • Able to work on urgent projects without neglecting long-term objectives.
  • Competence in at least one current coding language, one software tool for data analysis, and one CAD software.

Desired Qualifications
  • SolidWorks, 3D Printing using plastics, metals and ceramics.
  • SPC, SQL, Queries, Python, MATLAB, Mathworks, Excel Macros, Minitab, PMP, JMP, Spotfire, OpenCV, AI.
  • Experience with cobots, mobile platforms, anthropomorphic robots, and integration with computer vision.
  • Able to make and lead equipment improvement projects.
  • Distill and document/transfer knowledge for maintenance and operational employees.
