Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Westport YMCA is looking for an experienced medical professional to join our camp team for the 2024 summer session. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the health of our campers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervises camp health center.
• Plans and implements program activities which are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
• Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Maintains positive relations with campers, parents and other staff.
• Ensures that administrative functions are performed including attendance, incident/accident reports, and parent communication and medication appointments.
• Guide and provide assistance to other camp staff working within camper group.
• Complete Child Abuse Prevention training annually; Required to report any suspected cases of child abuse immediately to supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Desire and ability to work with children. Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting.
• Previous experience working in a medical setting required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; RN license preferred.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Completion of required training within 1 week of hire as well as obtaining any certifications required for position prior to start.
• Physical ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and situations
