Philadelphia Gear, a division of Timken Gears and Services, is currently seeking a Business Development Manager for the Energy Market. The role of the Business Development Manager is to drive sales and business strategies for energy markets through local territory sales managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the energy market to drivesustainable sales growth for the Timken Power Systems group by forging strong relationships with end-users, EPC's, OEM's, and key stakeholders in the energy markets in order to meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives. In addition, the Business Development Manager will maintain and improve service to existing accounts, including corporate headquarters, as well as developing new accounts, specifically in leading edge new technology markets in the energy space This position requires a highly motivated individual that is results oriented and a self-starter. The ideal candidate can reside anywhere in the Continental United States. This opportunity is home based when not on the road, with expected travel to be 75%+ of the time on average. This position reports to the North American Sales Manager.
Essential Responsibilities
Possess in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, coal fired, gas fired, pipelines, and oil & gas
Maintain general knowledge of electrical/mechanical component manufacturing and repair, assembly and test procedures along with company product offerings and their related prime market applications and aftermarket potential
Understand emerging relevant technologies in the energy space. Specifically, carbon capture, hydrogen as a fuel source, and other lower emission/transitional energy technologies
Create and execute plans to develop new business, as well as support the legacy business within the energy industry
Develop and maintain positive customer relationships through regular face-to-face customer interactions by planning and scheduling customer visits to timely assess needs, follow-up, and convert customer opportunities into profitable sales
Provide direction for all TPS brands related to existing product sales, market share increase, sales and product promotions, collateral materials, trade shows, marketing communications, and services development
Offer contractual input into bid preparation and support, collaboration, and cooperation with the proposals team for successful bid submission
Meet company key performance objectives for sales, profitability, safety, and quality
Possess or gain comprehensive knowledge of the company's energy capabilities, services, and products, as well as the energy market as a whole
Build customer confidence in the ability of the company to meet their needs by applying good problem-solving skills and persuasive sales techniques to gain customer confidence
Perform all aspects of the sales function to the highest level of professionalism
Manage time and priorities for maximum efficiency with available resources
Flexibility to meet sometimes demanding travel requirements and spend significant time making customer visits within the territory.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred
Must have 5+ years of experience as Territory Sales Manager
Must have 5+ yearsgearbox repair and/or motor repair experience
General knowledge in energy market
Strong computer skills, primary focus on MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with CRM software
Willing to travel at least 75% of the time;may require overnight travel
