The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for identifying and leading projects designed to improve productivity, quality, product flow, and employee safety through the application of Manufacturing Engineering methods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and follow standards for documenting machine settings/parameters to perform routed steps for assigned work centers.
Develop and enhance processes to optimize safety and efficiency.
Create work instructions ensuring quality product assembly safely and efficiently.
Design training programs to enhance employee capabilities and safety.
Optimize department layouts and maintain electronic layout versions.
Identify and eliminate waste in assigned processes and lead process improvement projects.
Attend tooling/fixture review meetings, providing feedback for improvements.
Evaluate current and proposed tooling/fixtures for production readiness.
Attend APQP and CFT meetings and fulfill assigned duties.
Perform feasibility studies and provide feedback on rate errors.
Conduct regular Manufacturing Process Audits per the audit schedule.
Promote workplace/workstation safety, including machine safety and ergonomics.
Evaluate equipment and new technologies for process upgrades.
Use problem-solving tools to evaluate issues and participate in corrective action processes.
Collaborate with other Manufacturing Engineers, Production Department personnel, and management to ensure a well-integrated manufacturing operation.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering and five (5) years of experience in fabricated sheet metal; or equivalent combination of education and experience in related manufacturing engineering activities.
Press Experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct training and group presentations.
Working knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Proficiency in MS Office, 2D CAD, and ERP preferred.
