Job Description:

A major international utility company is looking for a Project Management Director. In this role, you'll spearhead the development of Green Hydrogen projects across North America, guiding them from feasibility assessment to the commencement of construction. You'll oversee all aspects of assigned projects, providing leadership across various disciplines such as engineering, Health Safety Environmental (HSE) standards, permitting, regulatory compliance, procurement, construction management, and project control. Your responsibilities will encompass managing contractors, steering the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) scope, developing strategies and contracts, and ensuring seamless coordination between internal and external stakeholders. Ultimately, you'll drive projects towards Final Investment Decision (FID) while ensuring their overall success and sustainability.

Project Management Director Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Green Hydrogen projects from inception to Final Investment Decision, facilitating a smooth transition to the Execution team.
  • Provide adept leadership across all project domains, including engineering, HSE standards, permitting, procurement, construction management, and contracting.
  • Develop and oversee the project's entirety, including scope, execution plan, resource allocation, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and quality assurance.
  • Utilize your expertise in Green Hydrogen or related industries to guide project development, maintain team focus, and keep executives well-informed.
  • Employ your extensive Project Management and Engineering experience to establish efficient management processes, systems, and tools, owning the Project Management Plan in its entirety.
  • Foster collaboration among internal and external teams and partners, ensuring alignment and proactive management of interfaces and risks.
  • Proactively identify resource needs, mobilize teams, and monitor technical deliverables across project phases.
  • Collaborate with the Development/Finance team to provide accurate technical, production, and costing inputs for project financial models.
  • Lead the formulation of procurement and contracting strategies, managing procurement activities, tendering processes, negotiations, and contracting phases.
  • Structure operational and maintenance budgets, staffing plans, vendor interfaces, agreements, KPIs, and pricing structures for project sustainability.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned, ensuring comprehensive project oversight and successful outcomes.

Project Management Director Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in engineering, execution, and Project Management, particularly in developing large greenfield process plants (Hydrogen, Ammonia, Methanol, Refining).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Primavera P6, and Procore.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer license and PMP certification.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently, adapt to changing circumstances, and propose alternative solutions when necessary.
