Job Description:

BASIC PURPOSE: Develop, implement, and maintain a proactive strategy for assigned FF&E categories with an emphasis on New Build requirements that supports the company's supply chain initiative. Identify adequate and qualified domestic and international suppliers and service providers for assigned categories. Drive continuous improvement in product, process and procedure by finding new and creative supply solutions. Strategically source categories of spend and recommend alternative products of same or better quality at a more favorable cost, in collaboration with stakeholders, suppliers and department management.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Solicit price bids and proposals from qualified suppliers for assigned categories of items and services for Newbuild. Conduct comparison analysis of all bids, recommend suppliers for awards and propose special contractual terms and conditions. Review bid analysis with department management and present bid analysis results to stakeholders. Negotiate prices, terms and conditions.
  • Manage the ordering of Newbuild FF&E, including proper documenting in line with company policies, order confirmation, and follow through for on time delivery based on projects timeline.
  • Work with stakeholders and third party suppliers to ensure the scope of work specific to Newbuild FF&E is completed in a timely manner and as planned.
  • Prepare reports and maintain logs on projects related to Supply Chain of all Newbuild FF&E and major capital projects. Accurately keep track of all sourcing transactions for Newbuild FF&E following model prescribed by the company as applicable.
  • Resolve issues of prices on purchase orders that differ from prices confirmed by suppliers. Assist accounts payable staff or other parties as applicable to resolve issues pertaining to supplier's price discrepancies.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with suppliers. Monitor and resolve issues related to delivery performance, quality, and yield to company standard/specifications. Actively seek out new suppliers to support business demands.
  • Participate in vendor development activities to improve overall quality and reduce costs, in compliance with guidelines and policies. Activities included but not limited to: tradeshows, seminars and industry events.
  • Advise management and make recommendations for potential plans on sourcing, contracts or related functions.
  • In conjunction with department upper management, assist with special projects based on urgency or business demands.
  • Assign work as needed to buyer(s) to attain goals and objectives.
  • Frequent collaboration with Supply Chain team, operations, vessel operations and senior leadership as required.
  • Perform other job related functions as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Hotel Management, Engineering or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant background and work experience.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 to 8 years supply chain experience in technical institutional or manufacturing/marine industries. 3 to 5 years' experience in assigned commodity.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • High level understanding of assigned commodities and market trends, economic indicators, price indices, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Power Point to create reports, presentations and correspondence with emphasis on Excel in relation to general analytical work and financial analysis.
  • Good working knowledge and experience in purchasing techniques and practices, contract and commercial law; must be skilled in supplier assessment and development; contract bid evaluation; value analysis, and negotiation.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in order to interact with team members from different departments and vendors.
  • Strong organization skills are required in order to handle multiple tasks and keep accurate record of assigned projects.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a working knowledge of international, federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the procurement of assigned commodities.
  • Ability to maintain ethical and professional relations with suppliers, team members and any other party that conducts business with the organization. Good level proficiency with AMOS preferred.
