The Estimator is a critical position within Ross Construction Group. Estimators are responsible for evaluating specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and complete the project. Estimators will routinely work directly with Project Management teams for follow-up information on bids and change order procurement. The position of Estimator will report to the Director of Estimating.

Job Responsibilities
• Bid Administration
o Prepare and maintain status of plan reproduction and distribution
o Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and suppliers
o Prepare subcontractor bid packages
o Transmit addenda and other bid information accordingly
o Ensure that we have proper coverage from subs and suppliers on bid day
o Contact supplier and vendors to obtain additional subcontractors for bidding
o Submit bids and budgets per established deadlines
o Enter all relevant information into bid solicitation system
• Project Knowledge
o Analyze bid documents thoroughly and ask questions for clarification as needed
o Have a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades
o Understand contractual terms and conditions of the project contract
o Develop RFI's and maintain a log for clarifications
o Ensure adequate subcontractor coverage and interest in the project
o Generate scope specific bid tab sheets for assigned trades
o Perform comprehensive "Bid Day" analysis of scopes
o Provide clear and detailed quantity take-offs as needed
o Understand how to fit specific subs to a particular size/scope of a project
o Create bid lists that fit the scope of each project
o Minimize exclusions by ensuring adequate coverage and understanding of scopes
o Create inclusions, exclusions, and value engineering options
o Assist in preparation of the preconstruction schedule
o Assist RCG Project Team with and review Value Engineering process
• Subcontractor & Supplier Bid Review
o Handle all subcontractor interactions in a manner to build long-term relationships
o Thoroughly check bid against requirements of the specific scope and specifications
o Review stipulations for timeliness of award or notice-to-proceed
o Ensure subs and/or suppliers are aware of the project schedule and commit to it
o Update sub and supplier quotes as needed for complete scope
• Project Hand-Off
o Generate and review the job cost estimate with the Project Management Team
o Discuss and highlight any subcontracts or materials that still need to be awarded
o Review bid documents and sub buyout information with Project Management Team
o Review drawings and specifications thoroughly with PM Team, noting any areas of concern
o Assist in contract negotiations as needed; review and finalize customer and subcontracts
o Assist with Change Order pricing as needed/requested
• Other Miscellaneous Tasks
o Seek & gather information for qualifying new subcontractors and suppliers
o Visit job sites as necessary to gain process knowledge and understanding
o Attend Project Closeout review meetings
o Participate in community organizations and community events
• Project Hand-Off
o Estimating experience in commercial or residential construction
o Experience with estimating software, spreadsheets, etc.
o Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field experience
o Must be able to multi-task and have good problem-solving skills
o Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills
o A credible reputation among local and regional subcontractors/suppliers
o Ability to work in an office with a fast-paced environment
