IT Support Specialist

Position Summary

New River Electrical is searching for an IT Support Specialist with a passion for providing top-notch IT support to join our growing company. As a Support Specialist, you serve as the primary point of contact for all employees for software and hardware support for PCs, laptops, mobile devices, IP telephony, and audio/visual equipment. You must have a strong sense of urgency and can multitask. This position requires direct knowledge and experience of the daily technologies used throughout the company. In addition, the position requires a working knowledge of systems and databases to assist in process improvement throughout the various departments. As a part of our team, you will directly report to the Vice President of Technology & Communications.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Daily support of Tier 1 / Tier 2 IT requests, assisting employees both in the office and the field
  • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of support assistance utilizing our help desk ticketing system.
  • Configure and deploy workstations and mobile devices.
  • Facilitate the smooth boarding process for new employees, ensuring timely provisioning of IT resources and access.
  • Utilize Mobile Device Management to configure and manage company-owned mobile devices.
  • Update and configure user accounts and permissions in Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, and various other systems and platforms.
  • Work with current infrastructure to maintain and support IT operations; including the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of software applications, operating systems, firmware, and physical appliances
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance to systems and hardware
  • Collaborate with our third-party IT support vendors to escalate and resolve complex issues
  • Provide training sessions to educate employees on both software and hardware and familiarize employees with IT policies and procedures
  • Assist in database management and report writing.
  • Keep IT inventory up to date, both hardware and software licensing.
  • Set up remote offices in the field for larger construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and assist with regularly scheduled security audits

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, preferably in an Information Technology related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • A commitment to excellent customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication capabilities, including teaching, documenting new systems, and completing help desk requests as well as knowledge base articles
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist customers in person or remotely in a professional manner
  • Experience with mobile device management solutions
  • Knowledgeable in database management
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrate exceptional IT troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of IT best practices surrounding a Microsoft-centric platform and Cisco networks
  • Direct, demonstrable experience with:
  • Microsoft SQL
  • Crystal Reports
  • Power BI

Travel

Travel is limited to approximately 10%, including travel to job sites or meetings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is required to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
