Job Description:
SUSTAINING ENGINEER
Job Title: Sustaining Engineer
Job Summary:
Responsible for providing Engineering support of existing products both in the field and in manufacturing as well as
general Engineering design, creation of drawings and assembly procedures. BSME or BSEE
Required:
1. Sustaining Engineering
A. Investigation of field issues with existing products including implementation of corrective action.
B. Help troubleshoot manufacturing issues when they arise on the Manufacturing floor.
C. Assist in the transfer of new products and ECN changes to production. This includes fixture
creation, generation and implementation of test plans and training.
D. Generation and modification of Creo Drawings, Assembly Procedures, Instruction Sheets and
implementation of changes through the ECO process.
E. Qualify and follow to completion component part redesigns and substitutions as well as cost
reductions.
F. Help with failure analysis of returned components or units
2. Design Engineering
A. Assist the R&D department with design projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for generation and coordination of all documentation needed to implement an Engineering
Change. This includes Drawings, Bill of materials change mark-ups, Assembly Procedures and
miscellaneous documentation.
2. Assist in identifying and correcting problems that encounter in the assembly or testing of scientific
instruments.
3. Responsible for follow-up and analysis of failures on existing products. This would include investigation
of the reported problems, determination of the failure mode and corrective action. Responsible for
corrective action through the completion of the ECO.
4. Responsible for finding part substitutions for obsolete parts or cost reductions. This would include the
initiation and follow-up on the ECN to implement the substitution.
5. Help facilitate the implementation of Test Plans required to test new and current products and subassemblies.
This includes the creation of Test Plans, and documentation of Test Plan results
6. Design and fabricate electro-mechanical fixtures to aid in the assembly process.
