Job Title: Java API Developer

Job Location: Pittsburg, PA/Dallas, TX

Overview:

Java API Developer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based APIs for our software applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java programming, API design, and integration technologies, with a passion for building robust, scalable, and high-performing APIs.

The Role

Responbilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Framework, and related technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand API requirements and integrate with existing systems and applications.
  • Implement API design best practices, including versioning, documentation, security, and error handling.
  • Integrate APIs with backend services, databases, and external systems using standard protocols and data formats.
  • Develop and maintain API documentation, including API specifications, usage guidelines, and sample code.
  • Conduct performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization of APIs for scalability and efficiency.
  • Ensure API security by implementing authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration of APIs with user interfaces and client applications.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in API development, integration patterns, and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior developers on API development and best practices.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Over 10+ years of proven experience as a Java developer with a focus on API development and integration.
  • Strong proficiency in Java programming language, Spring Framework, and related technologies for building RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with API design and best practices, including REST principles, OpenAPI (Swagger), and API documentation tools.
  • Knowledge of API security standards, such as OAuth, JWT, and SSL/TLS protocols.
  • Familiarity with messaging protocols like JSON, XML, and experience in working with API data formats.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting using tools like Postman, JMeter, or similar.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and API gateways is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex API development and integration challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
