Position Purpose: The Experience Design Specialist, Community Collaboration, works closely with the Community Collaboration Manager and others on the team and organization to collaboratively create meaningful, end-to-end human-centered experience programs and systems that result in positive impact for our team, community members, volunteers and boards of directors. The role serves as a thought partner, advisor, and innovator who holistically integrates experience design principles in governance and leadership work in a way that inspires and transforms our work.

Main Accountabilities:
  • Leads a broad range of Community Collaboration programs and projects from inception to completion.
  • Provides a collaborative approach and guidance in the design, development and execution of Community Collaboration programs and initiatives.
  • Creates systems and processes that support positive internal and external stakeholder experiences and outcomes.
  • Utilizes Experience Design methods and frameworks to ensure the success of human-centered, designed programs and project outcomes.

  • Acts as a partner, assisting the Community Collaboration team in identifying their Experience Design needs; providing creative, dynamic, human-centered solutions through efforts that support them to effectively do their best work, accomplish goals and fulfill our mission.
  • Builds collaborative partnerships with internal team members, Board of Directors, volunteers, customers and suppliers.
  • Supports the team by providing an experience design focus in conceptualizing new programs, products, or services.
  • Leads in the creation of structures and frameworks that support both department and organization-wide projects, programs and initiatives.

  • Ensures the effective implementation and evaluation of key processes that support department and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensures adherence to project/program budgets and timelines.
  • Assess project needs and recommend appropriate experience design solutions to meet project goals.

  • Serves as a key connector and translator between the boards, community and staff groups, ensuring messages are relatable to each audience.
  • Provides leadership in identifying internal communication needs and in shaping messages and distribution channels (e.g., From the Source, Intranet, etc.).
  • Creates and delivers internal communications content, including email updates, leading & designing All Team meetings, creating team member newsletters, annual reports, intranet content, and presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability to carry out major assignments, this requires ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated independent problem-solving and sound decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms) and SmartSheet. Design programs such as Visme or Canva desired but not required.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in related fields preferred or practical experience in a related field.
  • Experience in healthcare, association management and/or marketing, or any of the experience design foci, (e.g., customer experience, human-centered design and design thinking) preferred.
  • 1-2 years experience developing and delivering communications and presentations using a variety of visual tools preferred.
  • 2-3 years experience designing, developing and executing meetings, programs and events preferred.
  • 5 years previous experience managing large projects required.

Total Compensation:

The target pay range for this role is $83,896 - $104,870**

Conditions of Employment:

Any candidates selected for hire with AACN must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check clearance.
