POSITION TITLE: Pastry Prep & Finisher
DEPARTMENT: Cream Room
REPORTS TO: Department Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time
Position Summary: A Pastry Prep & Finisher is responsible for the day-to-day production of pastries and cakes. This person is expected to maintain a high-quality standard for all items produced. This person should work as a team player, foster a positive work environment, and carry out the core values of Wrights Dairy Farm & Bakery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
ProductionPrep, assemble and decorate various pastries for the retail store including but not limited to cupcakes, eclairs, cake slices and cream pastriesPrep, assemble and decorate a wide variety of cakes. This includes basting in a variety of different frostings including but not limited to whipped cream, buttercream, Italian buttercream, cream cheese, poured ganache as well as fresh fruit, chocolate, and assorted decorations.Preparing, trimming, frosting, and cutting a variety of bars including brownies and fruit squares.Follow daily production lists and be flexible when demand requires additional products be made.Restock department as neededActively participate in daily shift-end duties
Quality AssuranceFollow Standard Operating Procedures for all products and ask questions when something is unclear or doesnt seem rightVocalize quality concerns to shift leads and managersProduce consistent product that meets Wrights standards
Food SafetyMaintain a clean working environment, clean as you goBe aware of allergen cross-contaminationFollow Standard Sanitizing Operating Procedures (washing floors, sanitizing work surfaces, etc)Wash hands as neededFollow dress code guidelines to include:Hair is restrained at all times with a hair netNo dangling jewelryNo painted or fake nailsUniform is cleanNon Skid Shoes worn

Customer ServiceStay informed of products and department and company information by reading weekly memos and attending meetings as requiredBe a brand ambassador in and out of workConnect with coworkers and foster a positive work environmentConsistently show up for shifts (no more than 2 attendance issues/month)Learn the technology to maintain your employee payroll, benefits, and schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisor responsibilities.
Travel
There is no expected travel for this position.
Work Environment
The work involves considerable exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, smoke, airborne food particles (flour, sugar, nuts) in a fast-paced environment with people working in close proximity.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours
This is a full-time position requiring 30+ hours weekly. Weekends are required. Must have the flexibility to work morning and evening shifts. The days and weeks before major holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas) are required.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
High school diploma, GED, or related experience preferred.1-2 years of experience in a high-volume production bakery preferred but not requiredFood Safety Certification is preferred but not required.

Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception with the ability to adjust focus.
