Purpose/Introduction Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking an Electrical Reliability Engineer to join our team in Sweeny, Texas.The primary responsibility is toprovide technical support to the Sweeny/Clemens/Old Ocean Facility to identify and eliminate equipment failures, improve the quality of new installations, improve the operation of assets, support project and maintenance activities, and ensure work is done in accordance with company/industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Subject Matter Expert that provides effective leadership, rapport, and technical expertise in electrical plant matters: Maintenance, Technical, Projects, and Operations.
  • Provide expertise to the Projects and Maintenance group on electrical systems to ensurethe design of equipment and systems meets the intent of corporate and plant design standards.
  • Oversee electrical equipment installation and commissioning with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Drive the plant bad actor elimination program for electrical equipment.
  • Support plant turnarounds by defining scope, developing backup power solutions, project implementation, and maintenance support.
  • Champion protective device coordination and arc flash studies on any changes to electrical distribution system.
  • Collaborate with external resources, such as engineering contractors and utilities, to develop effective solutions for reliability issues.
  • Support incident response and investigation for electrical related process incidents.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineeringfrom an accredited university AND at least 3 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of low and medium voltage (5kV-34.5kV) electrical equipment including switchgear, MCCs, motors, UPS, and transformers.
  • Experience with troubleshooting of electrical systems through one-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and/or protective relay event data.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (such as: NFPA, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, NETA).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a mission critical environment (i.e. refineries, chemical plants).
  • At least 5 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Knowledge/experience with SAP.
  • Knowledge/experience with PowerDB.
  • Experience with power systems modeling software (ETAP, SKM, etc.).
  • Experience with setting protective relays.
  • Experience in the repair of induction and synchronous machines.
  • Experience with electrical reliability analysis (RCA, FMEA, Bad Actors, MTTR, MTBF) and improvement processes.
  • Working knowledge of low and medium voltage VFDs.
