Job Description:

Position Purpose:



The IT Systems Administrator role ensures seamless operation of our company's IT infrastructure through monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing network and system resources. This role involves diagnosing and solving hardware, software, network, and telephony issues to ensure continuous operations. Key responsibilities include training end-users, leading temporary staff in hardware installations, and managing special IT projects. This position supports our technological needs by working collaboratively across departments and facilities, aligning with the company's strategic objectives. Will be required to travel to both Motor Wheel sites (Chattanooga, TN and Berea, KY) as needed.



Essential Functions:



Network and System Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain network resources to ensure optimal performance. Prioritize user needs and system reliability in all maintenance tasks. Manage changes to the IT environment through a structured change control process, emphasizing clear communication and minimal impact on end-users.


Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide prompt and effective troubleshooting for hardware, software, network, and telecommunication systems. Work to ensure IT-related issues do not adversely impact production. Employ a customer service-oriented approach to quickly resolve issues, ensuring user satisfaction and minimal disruption.


User Support and Training: Maintain and develop instructional materials for systems and applications to help enhance users' ability to leverage technology effectively.


Security and Maintenance: Facilitate network security initiatives, data protection, and disaster recovery planning. Conduct regular system audits, maintenance, patching, and upgrades to safeguard information integrity. Protect against unauthorized access and threats, balancing user access needs with security requirements. Ensure privacy, licensing and copywrite compliance is maintained throughout IT systems and resources.


IT Projects: Work to complete required IT projects, including new system installations and upgrades. Collaborate with various departments to ensure IT projects align with organizational goals.


Safety: Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of safety culture, participating in safety training sessions, and promptly reporting any safety concerns.


All other duties as assigned.




Education and Training



Required: Bachelor's degree in computer-related field preferred. Will consider other degrees with relevant IT industry certifications.


Preferred Certifications:



    • Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals (covering Active Director, PowerShell, Azure, Microsoft 365, and Hyper-V) to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft technologies and foundational knowledge across these platforms.

    • CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) or higher, indicating foundational network knowledge.





Minimum Qualifications



Experience
: At least three years of experience in desktop support or system administration, with a proven track record of resolving complex technical issues.


Technical Skills: Proficient with the latest versions of Microsoft Windows Workstation, Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, and familiarity with various Microsoft tools and applications. Knowledge of backup methodologies, such as CommVault or equivalent, is highly desirable.


Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users, offering both group and individual support and training.


Legal Knowledge: Awareness of federal copyright and privacy laws related to computer software use.


Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to support critical system requirements.


Certifications: Current certifications in Cisco (such as CCNA) and Microsoft technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals) are preferred but not mandatory.



Physical Demands



Travel: Must be capable of traveling to various division and plant sites as needed. Required to travel to both Motor Wheel sites as required.


Manufacturing Environment: The role involves working in a manufacturing shop floor setting, requiring mobility within various areas that may include navigating around machinery and equipment.


Lifting Requirements: Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.


Desk Work: Significant portions of the day will be spent sitting and working at a computer, necessitating comfort with prolonged periods of desk-based work.



Environmental Conditions



Work Setting: The role is situated in a dynamic hybrid environment that includes both office settings and active manufacturing areas. This position demands adaptability to work efficiently in both contexts.


Manufacturing Shop Floor: The IT Systems Administrator will engage directly with shop floor equipment and technology in the manufacturing area. This involvement requires an understanding of the manufacturing environment's unique challenges and safety protocols, ensuring seamless integration of IT operations with production processes.


Data Rooms: The role involves regular access to data rooms maintained at lower temperatures to protect equipment.


Equipment Access: Some responsibilities necessitate working with equipment in hard-to-reach areas. Comprehensive training on the safe use of ladders and mechanical lifts will be provided.
