Job Title:Post Doctoral Scholar

Department:Arts and Sciences | Astronomy

Post Doctoral Scholar will work with Professor Scott Gaudi in the Department of Astronomy on the development and planning of several surveys enabled by NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope Galactic Bulge Time Domain Survey. The department has substantial institutional presence in the Roman Space Telescope, including significant participation in two Project Infrastructure Teams and two Wide Field Science Teams. Duties will include finalizing the quenching analysis of the NGC 3109 satellite observed in MADCASH, analyzing satellite systems in LBT-SONG, preparing papers for publication and developing ideas for the dwarf galaxy project.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Astronomy, Astrophysics or related area required by time of hire; experience in microlensing and transit exoplanet surveys desired, although individuals with experience with adjacent fields such as asteroseismology will also be considered. Expertise in large time-domain surveys, particularly in the context of periodic and transient phenomena in surveys of stellar brightness and astrometric variability is also desired.

The target hiring range is $55,000-$65,000. The actual salary will fall within this range based on internal equity, the candidate's qualifications and available funding.
