Hourly Rate: $17.45/hr. or higher, commensurate with experience and/or education
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Repair Technician performs maintenance and repairs on piping and plumbing systems throughout the university.
DUTIES
Maintains, repairs, and installs plumbing and piping systems
Assists with demolition and renovation projects as needed
Performs preventative maintenance on assigned buildings, checking for leaks and fixtures in disrepair
Inspects all water softener systems
Demolishes clogged, rusted, and outdated pipes to prepare for the installation of new pipes
Makes repairs to damaged pumps
Runs and designs new water and waste flow systems as needed for renovation projects
Installs new water lines as required
Estimates time and materials needed for projects
Works on gas lines as required

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Primary Work Location:
Works in maintenance bay and custodian rooms
Physical Demands:
Work involves moderate exposure to unpleasant elements, such as adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, oils, dirt, dust, fumes, and airborne particles
Position requires maintaining the physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time, as well as for bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, jumping, climbing, and frequent reaching
May be required to work in a confined space, in a high, dangerous place, or be exposed to vibration
May occasionally be exposed to hazardous driving conditions and work near moving mechanical parts
Work involves regular exposure to potentially hazardous bodily fluids and to potentially hazardous or cancer-causing agents or chemicals
Must have precise hand-eye coordination, good spatial awareness, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
Must have the ability to move items of up to 100lbs
May be required to drive a forklift
Must be available to take emergency calls relating to plumbing issues
