The Director of Forming Operations is responsible for extracting maximum efficiency from any of the company's processes through automation, material science and/or innovation.
Scope:
This position will report to the VP of Forming Operations and will be responsible for forming operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide bottle-making technical, training, and troubleshooting assistance to the plants (glass conditioning and forming processes) with a special focus on their underperforming jobs and new product development
Develop and manage activities related to the establishment of improved technical production processes and methodologies
Ensure continuous improvement in process, cost, quality and production
Collaborate with internal contacts to implement any and all changes necessary to the facility or equipment that will improve current processes
Manage and direct the daily functions of the electrical and mechanical project engineers (related to the forming process)
Support forming activities within the plants through driving standardization, best day history methodology, consistent methodology/processes, and preventive maintenance effectiveness/compliance (to eliminate a firefighting approach).
Assign projects, establish realistic goals, and evaluate the results of the work activities of the forming area
Facilitate and implement "Sweet 16" forming methodologies
Provide expertise as it relates to underperforming jobs and new product development.
Minimum skills / qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ten (10) years as a subject matter expert within the forming department
Ability to travel 100% of the time
Experience in the glass industry with expertise with glass container manufacturing processes and technologies
Experience with technical problem solving, understanding multiple technologies (electrical and mechanical)
Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills with ability to handle changing priorities
Ability to influence others and create immediate action
Preferred skills / qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field
Fifteen (15) years of forming experience
