Breakwater Strategy, a strategic communications and capital markets advisory firm, is seeking an innovative investor communications leader to join our growing team. Breakwater advises public companies, private corporations, brands, coalitions, and non-profits on how to navigate change, crises, and complexities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a leader within our Capital Markets Business focused on research, financial communications, and advisory.
  • Analyze complex situations, define clear approaches to resolving issues aligned with clients' strategic objectives, and present comprehensive solutions.
  • Articulate sell and buy side perspectives on positives and negatives of a client's investment case.
  • Assess share price drivers, benchmarking guidance, disclosure and KPIs, substantiating pillars of an equity story.
  • Develop research instruments to support client needs on a case-by-case basis.
  • Lead investor interviews to uncover key insights for our clients.
  • Craft client reports, leveraging qualitative and quanitative data, and present with strategic implications and recommendations.
  • Design and implement comprehensive investor communications materials for clients.
  • Provide strategic counsel for financial communications including investor days, Non-Deal Roadshows (NDRs), and corporate transactions (such as an IPO, management change, or portfolio restructure).
  • Engage in new business processes, identifying and communicating opportunities that build upon current client work with the proven ability to source and sell net-new business.
  • Manage client relationships and sell products and services into an existing customer relationship.
  • Serve as a broader resource, across the firm, to enable the success of the broader business.
  • Manage and/or mentor junior staff.

ATTRIBUTES
  • A BA/BS degree in finance.
  • 12 to 15 years of relevant work experience in equity research or as an investment professional, IR and with a strong preference for significant advisory & client relationship management experience.
  • Experience scaling a new team or function.
  • Familiarity with the macro investor landscape and strategic financial/valuation frameworks.
  • Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills for a Board, CEO, or CFO audience.
  • Proven experience working with, influencing, and engaging senior leaders and board members.
  • Ability to effectively manage both internal teams and client relationships on accounts of all sizes.
  • Ability to balance mindset of strategic orientation with execution.
  • Quick learner with a client-focus, interested in working across all industries and business types.
