Description


Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the part-time role of Enology Instructor on the Walla Walla Campus.

General Responsibilities:




The Enology Instructor will teach annual winery-based Enology classes in the Associate of Applied Science degree sequence.


Faculty members at WWCC are professional educators committed to providing students with access to relevant, equitable, and innovative learning opportunities. General responsibilities include facilitation student learning through the preparation and delivery of course materials, providing timely and meaningful feedback on assignments and exams, assigning final grades, and connecting students to campus resources and support services.





Essential Responsibilities:







  • Teach assigned classes at scheduled time and place

  • Demonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment

  • Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter

  • Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions

  • Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback so students are aware of their performance throughout the quarter

  • Assign and submit grades based upon results of evaluations and college grading policy

  • Maintain student records and grades in the College's LMS

  • Post and be available during office hours that are reasonable for student access

  • Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology

  • Utilize available technology appropriate to assignment







  • Teaching and Related Responsibilities




    Teaching responsibility will be for one or more classes quarterly per the program schedule, as assigned by the Director, subject to instructor availability, from the following list:


    Introduction to Chemistry for Wine Studies
    Science of Winemaking 1
    Winemaking Practicum 1
    Science of Winemaking 2
    Science of Winemaking 3
    Winery Operations
    Sensory Evaluation


    Course levels will be in the 100 introductory level to 200 level AAS courses, as the year progresses through the program. A minimum of one course taught per quarter is required.

  • Required Qualifications
    :





  • Bachelor's Degree in Enology; closely related credentialing may substitute at the discretion of the College

  • Demonstrated proficiency teaching at the college-level (two years minimum); teaching experience as a teaching assistant or adjunct instructor may count towards the requirement.




  • Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's Degree in Enology

  • Experience teaching at a Community College

  • Experience using technology and teaching in a variety of modalities: Face-to-face, web-or technology-based, hybrid, HyFlex or online

  • Bilingual, especially English/Spanish






  • Conditions/Terms of Employment


    This is a part-time instruction assignment contingent on enrollment and located at the Walla Walla Campus. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful employment to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and provide transcripts. WWCC participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. Candidate may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition for consideration of employment. The college is a tobacco free institution. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.







    Compensation



    Compensation for adjunct instruction is contingent on enrollment and paid in accordance with the contract between the WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will commensurate with the educational background and experience per the Faculty Negotiated Agreement (Download PDF reader). Refer to Appendix D for the part-time salary schedule.
