Please note, this position is not with FORVIS LLC. We are working with a dynamic real estate investment, management, and development group located in the Boone, NC that is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team.
Position Overview:
The Controller will play a crucial role in financial management and reporting for the company. This individual will ensure the integrity of accounting information by establishing quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders, including management, board of directors, and investors.
Internal Controls and Compliance
Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process, in collaboration with department heads.
Provide forecasts and financial projections for the business.
Cash Flow Management
Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds.
Work closely with the project management teams to monitor project financials and optimize working capital.
Tax Planning and Compliance
Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely tax payments and filings.
Provide strategies to optimize tax liabilities.
Team Leadership
Manage and mentor the accounting team, ensuring continuous development and efficiency.
Foster a collaborative and performance-driven work environment.
Strategic Involvement
Collaborate with senior leadership in strategic planning and decision-making.
Recommend financial strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
Experience in a senior finance role, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting standards.
Proficient in construction accounting software, e.g., Procore, Sage 300 CRE, or similar.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams.
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
