The Production Scheduler develops and maintains short and long-term production schedule plans for all areas of responsibility and is responsible for production reports related to open orders and daily schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedules production to maintain appropriate stock levels in order to service customers in the most efficient manner.
Reviews and interprets production reports related to open orders and daily schedule. Adjusts schedules as needed. Reviews needs and findings availability for daily schedule variances and future needs.
Communicates with Purchasing, Customer Service, Shipping and all other departments to exchange pertinent information. Sends/answers communications in a timely manner.
Conducts investigations into overages/shortages of stock and determines the disposition of overstock as needed.
Reviews all work orders for accuracy and productivity levels. Problem solves when necessary.
Works with Supervisors, Managers, and production personnel to maintain efficiencies. Directs, organizes and assists in line start-up as needed. Contributes to staff development and training on a daily basis.
Enters transfers, adjusts product structure information, maintains computer schedule, and reviews product specs on a routine basis.
Develops a proficiency in QAD. Keeps updated on and comply with new policies with procedures. Continually strives to expand knowledge base to increase performance level.
Monitors product freshness and rotation at our DC's in addition to delivering acceptable service levels.
Follows through with operations to properly execute new items and shipper events and ensures compliance and timely execution.
Co-manages inventory, stock levels and reorder points of findings at JBSS plants and vendors, based on customer forecast.
Communicates all promotions, new initiatives and shipper events with purchasing and operations.
Works with inventory control to enter new product structures and maintain current structures to reflect necessary changes.
Develops proficiency in MRP, shop floor controls and other necessary computer systems.
Coordinates sample runs with operations.
Researches causes of service and quality issues and designs and implements corrective actions.
Researches process costing for new items.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in a related discipline preferred.
Five plus years of experience in a related field.
MRP experience preferred.
Detail oriented with strong communication skills.
Solid math and computer skills.
