The academic success coach will independently manage and oversee the daily operations of existing learning community (LC) student success initiatives aimed to increase student success and retention by working with the director of retention & student success initiatives and other areas on campus. Lead the onboarding of LC students starting with the application and orientation process through the transition on campus. Assist with the hiring and onboarding of new student academic peer coaches to serve as mentors to LC students. Teach and coordinate multiple sections of Arts & Science LC courses with assistance from student academic peer coaches as well as coordinate frequent LC events and experiential learning trips. Serve as liaison to faculty teaching other LC program courses as well as LC coordinators outside the Office of Retention & Student Success Initiatives. Conduct meetings and outreach with campus population to teach academic & personal success strategies, inform about university policies, and make connections with critical resources to provide necessary proactive outreach interventions through a variety of methods (i.e.: in-person, text, phone, email, etc). Work in partnership with academic success coach staff and director on additional retention and student success initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; program planning and administration; experience working with college students; knowledge of university policies, rules and regulations; excellent communication and presentation skills; strong experience with Microsoft Excel
Desired Qualifications
Master's Degree in higher education or related field and coordinating student programs across units desired.
