Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

The Global Director of Sustainability leads and provides the strategic direction for Sustainability within BAC and establishes and manages the framework to assess BAC's worldwide impact on society and the environment, as well as establishing its governance practices. This position is a key stakeholder in developing the corporate sustainability strategy, ensuring a focus on compliance with regulatory environmental and safety standards, and leading sustainability practices across operations to limit environmental impact, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Collaborating across the organization, this role is responsible for minimizing environmental impact of the company's operations and products while creating value for the customer. This is a highly visible, transformational role with a focus on leading change, influencing, communicating internally and externally, and coordinating while interacting with key stakeholders, customers, and employees to lead Sustainability initiatives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Leading the development of the company's global Sustainability strategy, with a key focus on driving future sustainable products and solutions for BAC.

  • Establishes the overall Sustainability framework, including objectives and milestones to achieve short term and long-term goals, embedding our strategy within functional areas as an integrated part of how we work.

  • Sets direction to measure and reduce BAC's energy & environmental impact, covering all areas of the business from product development to operations, customer delivery and the product lifecycle, in compliance with global corporate sustainability standards and directives.

  • Develops methodologies to assess the viability or success of Sustainability initiatives.

  • Develops and implements corporate programs to drive awareness and achieve intended targets.

  • Creates and drives engagement opportunities that serve employees, suppliers, customers, and partners while aligning with BAC's mission and vision.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Sustainability considerations into business strategy, operations, product development, and supply chain management.

  • Develops and executes an overall project management, operational, and change management strategy related to business initiatives/processes.

  • Develops relevant benchmarks, metrics, and goals for Liaises with other BAC global employees on the development of common metrics, measurement processes, standards and reporting tools. Prepares corporate dashboards and reports, as necessary.

  • Works cross-functionally, including Global and Regional Marketing, to develop and implement successful marketing, corporate communications, and PR strategies.

  • Acts as thought leader in Sustainability, understanding current and future challenges within the industry and educating and prioritizing these issues with internal and external stakeholders.


  • Leads BAC's ESG reporting practices, including the creation and publication of the Company's annual ESG report.

  • Develops contacts and a global network within the most important Sustainability-related NGO's.

  • Continuously researches and evaluates evolving Sustainability-related legislation, with a global perspective; stay informed regarding emerging issues and best practices; identify opportunities for collaboration and assist with development of policy recommendations.

  • Takes a leadership role on the Amsted's ESG Committee

  • Creates, seeks approval of, and manages ESG schedules and budgets.

  • Identifies synergies between EHS and Environmental & Social Sustainability goals and develop common initiatives.

MAIN INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS


  • The Global Director of Sustainability develops and maintains an internal network of senior leaders in the business that will contribute to driving sustainability awareness and actions in their areas of responsibility, and an external global network for benchmarking and keeping track of Sustainability-trends and changing legislation

  • Multiple contacts are necessary within this function with a.o. the following parties:

    • Global Leadership team for strategy development and progress reporting

    • Global engineering in relation to establishing and measuring sustainability contribution of new products

    • Global and regional marketing teams to develop and roll-out communication campaigns

    • Global authorities to follow up on changes in sustainability related norms and legislation

    • External NGO's for networking and follow up on new technologies, legislation, new trends, etc.

    • Other external organizations such as industry associations

    • ESG leadership at Amsted HQ and/or other Amsted businesses



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


  • Master's degree or similar in engineering, environmental science, social sciences, human rights, or related field.

  • 5-10 years of direct experience in business and human rights, social performance, social & environmental sustainability or comparable

  • At least 5 years of experience managing professionals and business leaders

  • Deep understanding of Sustainability principles, frameworks, and reporting standards, as well as emerging trends and best practices in sustainability and responsible business.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful Sustainability strategies and initiatives in a corporate setting.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS


  • Has a strong social engagement and genuine passion for sustainability.

  • Has the ability to communicate and present at an executive level.

  • Possess executive presence and interpersonal skills that enable you to build relationships internally and externally.

  • Shows strong technical interest and affinity.

  • Can express him/herself fluently in English, written as well as spoken. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage but not necessary.

  • Feels comfortable working in a global matrix organization, requiring flexibility and tolerance for reporting ambiguity

  • Can lead, inspire, and motivate in an international and cross-functional environment.

  • Take initiative and have strong project management and change management skills.

  • Can lead and coordinate multiple projects thanks to strong time management and communication skills.

  • Has excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Can multi-task and work both rapidly and efficiently.

  • Works in an independent way but seeks the necessary input from other stakeholders and involved parties when necessary.

  • Shows a willingness to travel regularly; up to 50%.
