MAGNIFY is actively seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant for our client based here in the Richmond, VA area! Tax Accounting experience is a must!

This is a Direct Hire opportunity, available right away, for an individual with a strong background in tax & accounting and a true desire to grow within an organization.

The Senior Staff Accountant plays an integral part in supporting the organization!

Responsibilities
  • Stay current on tax issues impacting the company, utilizing Continuing Professional Education (CPE), and identifying opportunities to minimize tax liability. Support business initiatives by maximizing shareholder value, reducing risk, and managing tax liability.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining non-value-added processes and leverage technology for increased efficiency. This includes automating workpapers to enhance tax compliance and closing processes, as well as optimizing SAP functionality.
  • Calculate quarterly income tax accruals under ASC 740 for domestic and specified international subsidiaries. Record accruals in general ledger software and prepare income tax footnotes and disclosures for SEC filings.
  • Ensure all job responsibilities adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley controls; update controls as necessary.
  • Assist the tax department in preparing federal, state, and local income tax returns, handling quarterly estimated payments and extension payments. The consolidated federal return covers approximately 9 domestic legal entities, 18 foreign subsidiaries, and over 15 foreign and domestic disregarded entities, operating across approximately 48 states.
  • Manage various federal and state audits, coordinating with auditors and internal personnel to gather necessary information for audit responses.
  • Conduct research and analysis on diverse tax issues, encompassing income, sales and use, and property tax.

Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master of Accounting or Taxation degree preferred.
  • CPA is NOT a must, but good to have
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with automated accounting systems, tax provision software, as well as proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with data analytics tools

Skills and Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax regulations, individual and business
  • Thorough working knowledge of tax accounting practices and principles.
  • Proficiently interpret and apply tax law, regulations, and case law.
  • Familiarity with tax return preparation/provision software.
  • Understanding of SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Collaborate well in a team environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Prioritize and work effectively under pressure in deadline-oriented environment.
  • Communicate effectively with executive leadership positions.
  • Display a high level of responsibility.
