Position Details:



Summary of Duties:


The Graphic Designer is a highly creative position responsible for the conceptualization, development, and production of a variety of graphic elements, illustrations, and visual media that serve the diverse communication needs of Student Affairs. Maintains WSU brand and graphic identity standards while implementing branding elements for various departments. Assists with overall artistic direction, timelines and workflow, and communicates with constituents through proofing process to deliver a final product that meets deadlines. This position may supervise part-time student staff.





Required Qualifications:




  • Two years of college-level training in graphic arts, illustration, drafting or closely allied field AND one year of experience as a Graphics Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.




  • Proficiency in publishing software including, but not limited to the current versions of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.




  • Ability to produce error free and accessible work.




  • Demonstrated experience creating designs for use in a variety of mediums including but not limited to print publications and digital advertisements.







Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience designing for a target audience of high school and college age demographics.




  • Experience with brand management and implementation.




  • Shows creativity and ability to adapt to modern trends in graphic design industry.




  • Experience supervising staff.




  • Demonstrated experience applying high standards of typography and creative design techniques to solve graphics communication problems.




  • Experience working with marketing professionals, editors, graphic and web designers, web developers, or photographers.




  • Experience with animation or motion graphics creation with Adobe After Effects or similar programs.




  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and ability to quickly learn and apply changing graphic design and publishing technologies.




  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative environment and work independently.




  • Knowledge of marketing principles.

Upon successful completion of the employee's 6-month probationary period and training, this position may be eligible for a hybrid telework agreement. All telework agreements are assessed and extended on a semester basis.

Monthly Salary:


$3,537 to $4,723 | Range 42 (Step A-M) |


Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
