The Director of Undergraduate Admission Recruitment oversees the recruitment strategy for the Office of Admission, including domestic, international, and multicultural recruitment. The Director works in conjunction with the Dean to establish the recruitment strategy, oversee and monitor its execution, and evaluate each recruitment effort. As part of the recruitment strategy, will establish, execute and oversee a comprehensive multicultural recruitment plan. The position directly manages and mentors Associate and Assistant Directors.

Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the senior leadership team within the Admissions Office by contributing to strategic decision making, staff management, and assessment and evaluation.
  • Work closely with the Dean of Admission to set expectations, establish office culture, and monitor the execution of established strategies.

Student Recruitment and Territory Management

  • Oversee the overall student recruitment plan to attract domestic, international and multicultural and students from established geographic areas.
  • Assist with multicultural and international recruitment admission efforts.
  • Plan and execute targeted promotion activities that support and maximize outreach efforts to achieve representation goals and recruitment results.

Analysis and Planning

  • Conduct high-level data collection and analysis, query management, new issue tracking, and data reporting in achieving the Division's geographic scope, diversity and representation goals.
  • Conduct territory analysis and planning.
  • Report on current and future trends, bench-marking, territory statistics and student search statistics and activity.
  • Create and develop an annual strategic plan for recruiting and enrolling multicultural students based on relevant and evolving data.
  • Access data and utilize for decision making to appropriately align resources, refine programs and track outcomes about the effectiveness of multicultural recruitment efforts and initiatives.

Multicultural Recruitment

  • Oversee and assist others in their execution of recruitment efforts through a variety of activities, including, but not limited to, organizing high school events and identifying college fairs with a primary focus on multicultural recruitment.
  • Strategize and assist in fostering relationships with and making presentations to community-based organizations in order to increase recruitment efforts on and off campus.
  • Develop an authentic, comprehensive and targeted multicultural communication plan.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop differentiated recruitment plans in all recruitment territories.
  • Direct oversight of on-campus programs such as a accepted student overnights and summer academic camps to positively impact the experience of multicultural students and positively impact their choice to enroll.
  • Serve a spokesperson and advocate for the Division's inclusive excellence goals.
  • Establish and foster internal and external relationships to achieve undergraduate admission goals including these specific actions.
  • Lead the team in the appropriate promotion of the Intercultural Leadership Award and Rhode Island' scholarship and serve as the in-house expert in understanding the marketing, selection, awarding, and success of these students.
  • Assist in establish and nurturing key external relationships and partnerships with community-based organizations that will enhance the University's ability to raise its profile and increase applicants from under-served populations and geo-markets.
  • Campus programs/ initiatives, presentations, and relationship development will serve as the foundation of the ADCMR's community outreach efforts.
  • Work with the Dean of Admission to coordinate all marketing materials specific to multicultural student recruitment and promotion of the ILA and RIS scholarships.

Trend Assessment Multicultural Student Recruitment

  • Support team effort towards understanding and grasping the ever-changing trends in student interest, recruitment, and admissions.
  • Assist team in understanding how these trends are consistent or different among individual populations.
  • Recognize that such trends constitute a building block of the overall recruitment program and therefore require constant monitoring and interpretation.
  • Develop and manage the team's multicultural database and the generation of trend assessment reports in support of the final goal.

Student Admissions

  • Participate as a member of the Undergraduate Admissions Committee.
  • Develop and offer expertise as the second reader for all students either from traditional schools or home schooled, where narratives are offered instead of traditional grades. Assure consistency in decision making, a deep understanding of student qualifications and the timely evaluation of applications.
  • Refine and oversee a thoughtful and clearly articulated application review process and appropriate selection of students for the Intercultural Leadership Award and the Rhode Island scholarship.

Resource Management

  • Participate in select management activities for the admissions team, including but not limited to budget management and professional development of the team with regard to multicultural student recruitment.
  • Manage all Multicultural Admissions budgets including visit, printing, advertising and mailing budgets.

Additional Functions

  • Participate, as necessary, in other technical and/or professional projects.
  • Perform other data collection, data analysis and reporting as required by supervisor.
  • Assist in the support and preparation for all department events with specific attention to logistical details, staffing and support materials.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use, and teach others to use, technology in communications, process engineering, data development and reporting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to evaluate technology solutions and support a team through the implementation of technology.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a student services or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressive admissions and higher education experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation with the ability to convey and obtain information amongst a variety of audiences such as students, parents, alumni and staff.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines and adept at shifting skills to accommodate changing priorities with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel 30-40% of the time.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience in a lead Admissions role.
  • Experience in multicultural recruitment.
