Position Overview

This is a skilled position encompassing all aspects of dispatch and management of one or more lines of business in the Customer Service Center. The individual is responsible for implementing and enforcing policies and procedures. This position requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the department. The Lead needs to be able to build and sustain a team where everyone works well together. Team atmosphere needs to be collaborative with everyone sharing in responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Fuctions)


  • Promotes safe operating practices through employee engagement to identify, report and correct safety concerns .

  • Coordinates with RM Area Manager to manage hiring, training, coaching, employee retention, performance evaluations. corrective actions and overall team performance.

  • Coordinates with the Area Manager and/or plant facilities to establish production schedules, efficient use of personnel to meet customer demands and determine plant consolidations when warranted by volume of business.

  • Responds to employee and customer feedback and project delivery challenges. Addresses complaints and resolves problems in a timely manner.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable mix designs and/or material specifications, available products, dispatch procedures, truck tracking and delivery areas.

  • Generates, monitors, and communicates department metrics and reports. Utilizes data to improve efficiency and performance.

  • Plans and implements quality assurance for all processes. Champions innovation and process improvement.

  • Assists in product sales and customer relations management.

  • Accurately monitors the raw material ordering through the Customer Service Center.

  • Works with Sales, QC, Safety and Customers regarding requirements and related needs on upcoming projects.

  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Dispatch and or supervisory experience preferred.

  • The individual should have (or be able to quickly gain) knowledge of Command Alkon, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Any customer relations course certificates, licenses and registrations are helpful.

Work Requirements


  • Must be 18 years in age or older.

  • Must be willing to travel to site locations.

  • Regular and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

  • Must display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.

  • Pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check will be required.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • Ability to read, comprehend, articulate, and write complex instructions, correspondence and other written content.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook, and database software. Must be able to utilize internet and communicate effectively.

  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving, and receiving feedback. Excellent customer service skills are mandatory for this position.

  • Demonstrate basic mathematical skills as well as the ability to interpret financial data and information.

  • Demonstrated ability to train, motive and lead employees.


  • Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.

  • Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.

  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer and/or employee situations tactfully.

  • Basic knowledge of labor and employment laws.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.

  • Regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to manipulate/handle objects.

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

  • Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.

  • Able to utilize office equipment including a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.

  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.

Work Environment


  • While performing duties of this position, the environment is typical of an office setting and the noise level is usually quiet to moderate.

  • While performing field duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
