Physical Requirements Sitting for long periods of time, walking to patient appointments, lifting objects less than 20 pounds, computer typing, repetitive motion using computer.
Shift Day shift 8:00AM – 5:00PM; hours and days of the week subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department.
Job Summary In this position, the candidate will provide pharmaceutical care to patients requiring specialty and non-specialty medications through the UK Specialty Pharmacy in accordance with accreditation standards and contractual obligations.

Responsibilities include :

  • Serve as the primary liaison between UK Specialty Pharmacy and UK’s ambulatory clinics. ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy is implemented for all patients in their care and monitor care appropriately.
  • Facilitates the formulary review process for specialty and non-specialty medications.
  • Participates in appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to practice area.
  • Responsible for supervising PharmD students, technicians, undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and providing educational programs for hospital staff.
  • Establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience Experience with home infusion; hospital infusion centers; and Specialty Pharmacy; Board certified in Specialty Pharmacy.
