Job Purpose/Overview



The job holder has responsibility for the operational management of Single Serve Technology and elements of strategic management of prime spend on Single Serve Technology for all Single Serve markets of Mars Drinks globally to ensure cost effective, sustainable supply.

 

Continuous Single Serve Technology and supply is critical to the operational success of the business and a failure in supply impacts sales and revenue within a matter of weeks.

 

The job holder provides operational support to Indirect buying for NAAP with the C@MTT relationship and the legacy purchasing systems still employed by Mars Drinks.


 









Key Responsibilities





  • Supply Chain Management – Manage the day to day execution of contracts for approved sourcing strategies for Single Serve Technology suppliers in support of the SS Technology Strategic Sourcing Manager


  • Supplier Relationship Management– Responsible for Commercial relationships with the supply base for brewers, merchandisers and other technologies across a multi-cultural arena.


  • Stakeholder Engagement – Responsible for developing and maintain key stakeholder relationships in the Single Serve markets to ensure alignment on sourcing execution in conjunction with on-going supply chain management and supplier quality assurance.


  • Sourcing Strategy Development – Create sourcing plans for non-strategic Single Serve Technology categories (i.e. merchandisers) using the MSSM process.


  • Sourcing Category Expertise – Develop appropriate understanding of the Single Serve Technology market environments in which the suppliers operate.


  • Effective Sourcing – Execute approved sourcing strategies for materials in the non-strategic Single Serve Technology categories.


  • Legal Contracting – Develop, Negotiate and execute supply contracts for non-strategic Single Serve Technology suppliers using Mars approved contract templates.


  • Commercial Negotiation - Conduct negotiations to ensure agreement between commercial/sales and a supplier/customer and/or internal clients in order to reach a mutually acceptable outcome.


 









 

Context and Scope



The Single Serve Technology Commercial Operations role is to execute the buying strategies developed by the Single Serve Technology Strategic Sourcing Mg., delivering on cost, quality, service and working capital targets, as well as to manage the on-going supplier relationship and operational commercial activities.

 

The job holder is responsible for developing sourcing strategies for the non-strategic Single Serve Technology categories for which they are accountable using the MSSM process. Once approved and implemented the job holder will use supplier segmentation processes to develop appropriate relationship management strategies for suppliers and leverage their capabilities to achieve continuous improvement and bring innovation to the business. 

 

The job holder will drive continuity of supply through the management of working relationships, contracts and pro-active risk management activity. He/she will also be responsible for Single Serve Technology cost reduction projects, commercial aspects of innovation and the key interfaces with R&D, IT, Quality, Logistics and Marketing (as appropriate) with the Suppliers he/she is accountable for.

 

The job holder will determine when and what types of contracts are appropriate for the suppliers they are accountable for and using standard contract templates to complete contractual relationships between Mars and its suppliers in order to protect Mars Drinks and its assets.

 

The job holder will gather market intelligence, benchmark against the external world and understand price drivers in order to influence requirements and specifications internally and externally.  Work with Logistics and SQA in setting and monitoring improvement programmes for the suppliers in terms of quality, cost and delivery.

 

The job holder will suppport the NAAP Commercial Director with the C@MTT relationship management for Mars Drinks Indirect Spend and manage the operational activities of the Mars Drinks legacy Purchasing Systems and Processes.

Job Specifications/Qualifications



1. Education & Professional Qualification


 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree preferably in a business related discipline or equivelant demonstrable experience.

3-5 years on experience in logistics or manufacturing operations

 

Preferred Qualifications

An Academically qualified Purchasing professional with a Degree in business- or technical/science-related discipline, supported by relevant experience.



2. Knowledge/Experience



Experience in logistics and supply chain, managing a global supplier



3. Physical/Mental Requirements



The role will require up to 10% travel
