Overview

Ashland Specialty Ingredients (Division of Ashland LLC) operates a PSM regulated batch facility in Calumet City, IL handling hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals. As a Material Handler, you will be on a team working in a fast paced environment performing various duties such as filling operations and associated material movements of industrial chemicals. The successful candidate will safely operate process equipment used to move materials through tanks into tank wagons, totes, drums, pails and sample containers for shipment to customers. Additional duties include the operation of a yard spotter to move tank wagons and box trailers where needed, to operate fork lifts to move materials and supplies in the plant, to maintain their work areas and to report accurate inventories and supplies to management for efficient cost control.

Description

Wages: $33.18/hr

Shift schedule: 7-3, 3-11, 11-7

Qualifications

To qualify you will need the following:


  • One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent experience and training.

  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts including weekends in a 24X7 operation.

  • Must be computer literate: able to accurately report activities in a computerized inventory management system, work in a maintenance work order system, print reports and labels and complete of computer-based training.

  • Strong work history that demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Good communication skills

  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and team player

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States


Preferred

  • Industrial manufacturing experience with operation of process equipment to produce chemicals preferred.

  • Safe driving experience, with fork-lift certification and experience handling hazardous materials preferred.
