Job Description:

Community Solutions, Inc (CSI) is searching for a Grant Writer/Project Manager to join our amazing and dedicated Development Team. You will be working Full Time Monday-Friday 8am-4pm in Bloomfield, CT. You will provide project management of proposals and grant applications including research, writing, graphics, editing, assembly and submission. In addition you will work to increase funding for the agency through new business, grants, and fundraising activities.

Community Solutions Inc. (CSI) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the responsible citizenship, accountability, and well-being of individuals and families involved, or at risk of involvement, in the child welfare, juvenile justice, or criminal justice system. Since CSI’s founding in 1962, it has been a pioneer in the community-based service. We have been delivering supervision, treatment, and comprehensive individualized services to help clients interact more effectively in their communities and become productive citizens. Using this plan we built the first ever halfway house in New England which has now been replicated and grown to almost 50 programs in 9 states. For over 50 years, CSI has been building upon its successful foundations and has been expanding its services to serve thousands of adults, youth, and families each year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited too:

  • Research and identify grant and funding opportunities.  Attend scheduled bidder’s conferences to gather information for Requests for Proposals.

  • Conduct necessary research related to the completion of proposals and grant applications.

  • Manage the process for proposals and grant applications to include delegating tasks to the Marketing and Grants Coordinator, ensuring requirements for submissions are complete and of high quality.  Ensure deadlines, guidelines, format and design set by funding agencies are met. Ensure all information pertaining to the Agency is current for inclusion in submissions.

  • Coordinate and/or write the Agency’s responses to proposals (both new business and re-bids) and foundation grants including meeting with agency staff in other divisions (e.g. fiscal, operations, training, IT, maintenance, Human Resources) to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the submission.  Ensures the responsibility matrix is developed, updated, and distributed to all pertinent agency staff for each proposal.

  • Provide administrative and project management support to the Chief Development Officer.

  • Provides input and guidance to Grants Coordinator position on communications function, social media presence, marketing materials, website development, and public relations.  Participates in existing agency fundraising efforts and in the development of new opportunities for fundraising, to include capital campaigns.  

  • Maintain working knowledge of Agency programs & abide by Agency policies/procedures.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

  • BA/BS degree in Social Services, Public Administration, Public Policy, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.

  • Experience and background in researching and writing Federal, State and Local proposals preferably for not-for-profits.

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely,

  • Read and interpret data

  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Computer proficiency required (Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel).
