Job Description:

UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) is seeking an experienced Finance Supervisor to perform financial analyses (e.g., rate of return, depreciation, working capital, etc.) and expense comparisons for customers, products, and financial performance. He/She compiles and prepares reports, graphs, and charts; builds and maintains complex financial models; and prepares forecasts and analyzes trends in supply chain operations, sales, finance, and other areas. This position prepares and presents financial information for individuals within and outside the work unit and works closely with supervisors, managers, engineers, and controllers. He/She is responsible for budgeting and financial administration, functional administration, and staff management (i.e., career development, staffing, performance management, and organizational development) for employees in the department. This position supervises specialists within the department.

The SCS Finance Supervisor collaborates with requestors (e.g., Operators, Finance, Regional Controllers, etc.) to identify the purpose of the analyses. He/She collects client information (e.g., credit rating, etc.) to determine business risks and pricing structures. This position reviews current contract terms and conditions on acquired contracts to ensure alignment with corporate guidelines. The Finance Supervisor determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans. He/She collects information to ensure accurate data and to support pricing guideline development.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collects information to ensure valid data is available for analysis
  • Reviews and evaluates new business proposals to ensure financial guidelines are met
  • Develops pricing on less complex accounts to ensure acceptable rates are developed
  • Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement
  • Develops policies to ensure pricing guidelines are properly administered
  • Analyzes and evaluates proposals to ensure proper guidelines are utilized in proposing new business

 Knowledge and Skills

  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrates a broad business and accounting knowledge; describes methods in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Conducts Research: Identifies the business problem that requires research; identifies sources of information that are relevant to a problem; reviews literature and data related to the research question; summarizes information from data sources
  • Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between “big picture “concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail
  • Finance Knowledge: Accurately reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives
  • Must have finance experience
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office products or similar software (creating formulas, pivot tables, and graphs)
  • Experience with Microsoft BI Tools and SQL Server - Preferred
  • Experience supervising others – Preferred
