Job Description:

ERM is seeking a Senior Consultant – EHS Compliance with significant consulting experience and Power sector client relationships, to play a key role in growing our EHS management systems and compliance support serve area in Charlotte. The ideal candidate will not only bring a wealth of operational EHS technical capability and deep understanding of business processes to help our clients proactively address their EHS risks and challenges, but will also enable us to grow our business in the Power sector by leveraging existing relationships and opportunities.

As a senior leader, you will be fully accountable for successfully selling and consulting on a range of EHS compliance/management systems projects to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with ERM's global Management Systems and Compliance Support technical community to share best practices across the industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level professional looking to advance their career with a global EHS and sustainability leader, and work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental compliance and management systems projects for large global clients.  Working with ERM provides access to a global network of subject matter experts, international work and ongoing learning and development opportunities.

These may range from tactical environmental compliance support (e.g., plan development, regulatory reporting, etc.), to EHS compliance assurance programs, to enterprise-wide EHS management system design and implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop and implement strategic business/action plan, provide leadership, and deliver performance results to expand ERM's EHS Management Systems and Compliance Support work in the Power sector in North and South Carolina, with a particular focus on environmental services. Serve as a key member of the “core” technical team to drive double-digit profitable growth across the service line.

  • As a senior “seller/doer,” contribute to expanding ERM’s Management Systems and Compliance Support services annually, with particular focus on the Power sector. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.

  • Develop and manage innovative, outcome-focused approaches and programs for a variety of industrial clients with complex technical/EHS regulatory issues. Design and direct corporate EHS strategies and programs for maintaining EHS compliance, managing EHS risk, improving EHS performance, and increasing the overall value delivered by corporate EHS functions.  Achieve client’s expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality through expert project management skills.

  • Develop a working understanding of ERM’s other consulting technical areas and actively support cross-selling these services to existing clients. Support the general growth and development of ERM’s international Management Systems and Compliance Support services. Coordinate with ERM offices in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe regions.   

  • Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of the technical team.

  • Stay knowledgeable of trends in the EHS management systems, EHS compliance programs, and the overall EHS regulatory environment.

  • Promote a culture of collaboration and excellence in order to deliver ERM’s purpose of shaping a sustainable future with the world’s leading organizations.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related science degree

  • At least 10 years of relevant consulting experience in working with significant industrial clients (including Power sector experience) on EHS regulatory compliance, EHS management systems and sustainable EHS programs

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies in EHS program management, compliance assurance, and performance improvement, including demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, and book personal sales in new consulting services. Ability to bring Power sector client relationships to ERM a plus.

  • Pasion about EHS performance improvement; substantial experience developing and delivering world-class EHS program solutions.

  • Substantial experience developing and delivering world-class EHS program solutions which ensure compliance, manage risk, and drive performance improvement, including:

  • Broad familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations; experience in managing programs in response to these regulations (e.g., as a consultant to industry)

  • Direct experience with developing and implementing corporate-level EHS management systems following the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle; experience with ISO 14001 implementation a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to develop clear, succinct and effective documented deliverables.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to clients as needed. Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
