Senior Director - Investor Relations at ADP in roseland, New Jersey

Investor Relations: Collaborates with the VP, Investor Relations in developing and executing the Investor Relations strategy, operating plans, budget, and tactical elements of global IR program. The primary operating objective of the IR program is to educate and update investors and security analysts about the company, including communicating ADP's strategic direction and financial results to investors and the analysts in accordance with the provisions of SEC Regulations FD (Fair Disclosure) and G through press releases, conference calls, analyst conferences and road show events. Interfaces with internal organizations (CEO, CFO, treasury, finance, legal, public relations, operational areas and others) to ensure communications activities support company operational goals and objectives. Creates and maintains external relationships with institutional investors and sell-side analysts. In the absence of the IRO, this leader responds to questions/requests from the executive management team and the investment community.

Investor Events 

  • Including quarterly earnings conference calls, annual financial analyst conference, investor road shows, in-house analyst meetings, broker sponsored conferences
  • Through analysis of BU business and financial results, assist VP of IR with the strategy, agenda and content of presentations including development of messaging, writing of all financial press releases, and writing of clear and effective scripts for CEO and CFO
  • Collection of key statistics from BUs, validation of data with BUs and a review of all meeting materials.
  • Works with the VP - Investor Relations in providing guidance to management on potential hot issues and questions
  • Review analyst reports on ongoing basis with particular attention to information available prior to investor events as one tool to provide guidance to management on potential hot issues and questions
  • Produce summary and details by analyst of sell-side analyst reports after investor events - revenues, earnings, margin and EPS consensus, Buy/Hold/Sell recommendations, price targets, identify follow-up points and assist in data gathering for discussions with analysts where appropriate
  • Accompany CEO, CFO and VP IR at analyst events - available as IR resource for attendees
  • Manage the production of all investor events including presentations, analyst/investor profiles, feedback and appropriate disclosure
  • Analyze investor and target (potential investor) profiles for participation in roadshows to maximize effectiveness of CEO/CFO time

Earnings Calls

  • Direct quarterly earnings calls process and material preparation
  • Coordinate timing of due dates with corp. finance groups and BU's
  • Provide guidance to IR analyst re: communication line support
  • Financial Analyst Conference Work with Ex-com, CFO, VP IR and BU and functional management and their teams to develop conference theme and presentations
  • Use knowledge regarding current economic and market conditions, competitor positioning and ADP strategy to drive content relevant to investment analyst audience
  • Monitor competitor events and technology trends to determine best venue/method of dissemination (e.g. live show, streaming video, product demonstrations)

Investor Relations Communications 

  • Collaborates with the VP on message development and strategic positioning to assure consistency among all communicators including public affairs, marketing and others
  • Responsible for management of the investor relations website, including all updating of all schedules and content
  • Respond directly to analyst calls for historical or financial statement data; serve as the secondary point of contact for investment community functioning as an accurate source of information on ADP (financial and non-financial)
  • Continuously seeks to improve processes and procedures to ensure ADP is utilizing "best practices"; including staying abreast of new communication tools
  • Analyze and review analyst models for accuracy of financial data
  • Develop and communicate understanding of the investment community's view of ADP's financial outlook to management team
  • Monitor ADP news for consistency/accuracy of messaging, especially CFO/management media spots
  • Assist VP IR in enhancing internal awareness of the investor relations discipline, including involvement in finance associate development and training

Investor Relations Reporting & Analytics 

  • Provides General Counsel with ownership data required to be reported in the Proxy Statement
  • Proactively monitors Consensus estimates and Price Targets
  • Prepares quarterly 13F reporting of ownership in ADP which includes reporting ADP stock ownership to management (summary, list of owners, changes, link to investor contact)
  • Assists others in the preparation of CFO presentations for ADP to Board of Directors, Town Hall meetings, Financial Analyst Conference, Ex-com, and as requested throughout the year; includes analysis and presentation of investor perceptions and opinions, stock price movements and ownership analysis
  • Collaborate with ADP's strategy and marketing teams to provide relevant analytics to management in accordance with external perspective

Written Communications Including Annual Letter to Shareholders

  • Provide write-up of financial disclosures to corp. communications for associate updates, annual letter to shareholders, and other presentations as requested
  • Performs other responsibilities as needed.


  • Required Bachelor's Degree, Preferred Major or Area of Concentration Accounting, Finance, Economics
  • 8 - 10 years of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Strong analytic ability solid finance background and the ability to get behind the numbers, understand and interpret the company's financial results
  • Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal skills strong communicator and an excellent listener; must be able to translate strategic messages into creative, clear, concise and accurate presentations; ability to write speeches for management; clearly and concisely explain financial and operating data
  • Technical knowledge strong technical accounting knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations and standards of IR practice; strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and analysis; experience with Bloomberg or Thomson Reuters products a plus
  • Ability to execute multiple projects, deliver against established deadlines and to work under tight time constraints; ability to remain calm and work well under pressure; attention to detail
  • Logical thinking aability to analyze and process knowledge, ideas and information to arrive at a rational conclusion in a clearly defined manner
  • Office skills proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
