JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Senior Development Technician i s a key member of the technical innovation & development team. The Sr. D evelopment Technician will provide general support to the members of the Technology & Innovation team. This includes hands-on execution in development of new manufacturing processes for new products or performance improvement of existing products, as well as the independent evaluation of new products and processes. The position can perform with minimal supervision and offers suggestions for improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: while other duties may be assigned the following are included to:
Develop processes and procedures for the production of new metal, alloy, or inorganic materials. Processes may include various methods of casting, hot and cold rolling, wire drawing, heat treating, cutting, mixing, chemical reaction, particle size reduction, forming, consolidation, machining, bonding, etc.
Document all processes, procedures, and product specifications, including the development and entry of Bill of Materials (BOM) and Routes
Process all necessary paperwork including parts numbers, production orders, requisitions and inventory records by utilization of SAP system.
Support Sales and Marketing by participating in meetings, conference calls etc. when direct communication with customers requires Technical input.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent plus minimum of 5 years of industrial training and at least 2 years related experience with equipment and processes.
Two-year technical degree or B.S. in Materials Science/Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, CAD/CAM engineering, New Product Design or relevant engineering field preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write standard documentation. Ability to communicate with other employees to share information and solve problems. Ability to write reports and to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to compute percent. Ability to organize data into tables and graphs. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, and quadratic equations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate equipment as needed in all manufacturing departments after training. Ability to operate a computer and use software such as Microsoft Office, SAP, furnace controls and data logging software.
