In addition to performing maintenance repairs as per the mechanic job description, this individual will assist the South East Region Maintenance Manager in assigning tasks to other maintenance employees, confer with operations personnel to arrange for transportation equipment to be released from service for inspections, service, testing, or repair and order parts and process repair orders as required.

 

Responsible for region maintenance activities in the absence of the Maintenance Manager

                                                                                   

Assist the Maintenance Manager in sharing the responsibility of keeping the maintenance team operating SAFELY and efficiently while improving repair quality.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Starts and drives repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications and to test their performance and may assist with equipment relocation.

Work with the SE Region Operations Team to provide excellent customer service and creative solutions that improve equipment availability.

 

Promote Teamwork and communication within LTII.

 

Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment , assist HSSE compliance managers as required.

Assists with periodic inventory and equipment counts.

Develop and Maintain Positive Vendor Relationships.

 

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Reads job order and determines work procedures.

 

Follows policies for inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of vehicles; schedules repairs and testing; assigns and directs activities of service, repair, and wash bay personnel; and follows up on repairs being made and activities being performed.

Analyzes and processes LTII shop work orders to determine such information as materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes are accurate using TMT system.



Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:

 

2 year Technical School graduate preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One year fleet maintenance or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Employee must meet Department of Transportation requirements. Candidates with a valid Commercial Driver's License with Class A Air, Double and Tanker endorsements (or candidates that are willing to obtain their CDL) are preferred.

Employee must be willing to receive an Air Conditioning Certificate.

Employee must possess a brake certificate.

Employee must have own hand / air tools.
