Headquartered in Boston, MA, AlphaStruxure employees are currently hired by Schneider Electric and then seconded to the AlphaStruxure venture as we build the platform to launch our business as a stand-alone entity. This position will be based in the Boston, MA office.

MISSION:

AlphaStruxure is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented and experienced Controller with strong Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) experience in the United States and who can manage both financial results and compliance, and who can also provide financial information to meet external and internal reporting requirements. The Controller position is responsible for hiring and supervising accounting subordinates and providing accounting knowledge. He/she must possess deep project accounting experience to support AlphaStruxure in its pursuit of new distributed energy, microgrid and energy-as-a-service investment opportunities. The individual must thrive in a team that is highly analytical and values creativity, collaboration, perseverance and strong written and oral communication skills. He/she will also interface with both Carlyle and Schneider executives on a regular basis.

Reporting to the CFO/Chief Investment Officer of AlphaStruxure, specific responsibilities of the position include:

- Manages all accounting functions and systems. Maintains and ensures accuracy of all accounting records;

- Assembles financial reports to meet internal and external reporting requirements with support of external and eventually internal resources;

- Manages monthly financial close and quarterly financial reporting;

- Ensures integrity and compliance for AlphaStruxure Group transactional processing, including G/L, accounting, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, royalties and fixed assets;

- Maintains key internal controls and external audit requirements & compliance policies;

- Ensures key control activities occur on a regular and periodic basis, ensuring controls are working properly;

- Supervises the building of financial statements for AlphaStruxure, LLC (our Development Company) and each of our project Special Purpose Entities (SPEs);

- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing company policies, procedures and controls;

- Proposes recommendations to correct inefficiencies or to further improve efficiency;

- Participates in the scoping, selection and implementation an ERP system that meets the key objectives of AlphaStruxure;

- Prepares or oversees certain financial planning analysis which may include forecasting, budgeting, project spend, project cost tracking;

- Manages initial project set up in selected ERP based on the project's contractual terms, conditions and requirements based on the as-sold budget;

- Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to assume additional responsibilities, as needed

- Manages all billing preparation and receipts as well as invoice processing; develops and manages a team of personnel responsible for AR and AP

- Functions as a team player who demonstrated a positive, collaborative tone and fosters a collegial and ethical culture

The optimal candidate will be a top performer, with a minimum of 8 years of U.S. GAAP project accounting experience. He/she should be proficient in the Microsoft Office software suite including Excel and PowerPoint and able to quickly summarize his/her analysis in charts, graphs and financial output pages. A successful candidate will be an adept problem-solver and strategic thinker, with solid analytical skills and good judgement. He/she will thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving work environment, which demands a high level of interpersonal skills and collaboration across functional teams.

Required:

- 8 years of U.S. GAAP project accounting experience;

- Strong communications skills with the ability to influence organization to accept change and develop a quality and reliability culture within the business, and at the partner level;

- Strong understanding of the project accounting methodologies and financial management of contract funding, revenue, cost, profit, DSO, billed AR, unbilled AR, backlog, labor utilization, subcontracts, consultants, excess revenue, and purchase orders

- Experience working with multiple legal entities, including some with complex legal structures

- Ability/fortitude to make difficult decisions and ensure relevant and necessary processes/guidelines are followed;

- Understanding of cash management and tax issues;

- Experience scoping and implementing new ERP's

Preferred

- At least two years' experience in a Controller (or deputy/interim Controller) position

- Certified Public Accountant Certification (CPA)

- Deep understanding of financial processes with experience in process improvement

- Experience working in a rapidly expanding company

- Knowledge of clean energy technology such as solar PV, CHP, battery storage, fuel cells

- Experience in either in consulting firm, audit (Big Four) or internal experience, such as operational or financial functions

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Economics or another related area of study.
