As a Customer Marketing Manager, you will help drive overall Commerce marketing objectives to make it easier for people to find, buy and enjoy our brands. You will be responsible for developing and managing the annual Customer Marketing plan for assigned customers, geography and sub-channels by executing insight-based and on-equity plans that will support the business units objectives while balancing the specific requirements of Channels/Customers. You will have the opportunity to develop plans based on your deep understanding of shopper/guest insights as well as customer, industry, and competitive dynamics. This is a highly collaborative role that drive partnerships across different areas of marketing, sales, and external partners.

 

What You Will Do

 

Strategic Customer Marketing


  • Serves as a forward deployed marketing expert for business partners; develops and customizes national and banner-specific programs for customer or sub-channel needs (focus and activity driven by customer tiers).

  • Brand equity steward - leverages and integrates playbooks, templates and style guides from brand and commerce marketing.

  • Collaborates through Integrated Marketing Planning (IMP) on omnichannel programming to ensure relevance for Customer teams and sub-channel(s)to drive relevant and high impact Customer Marketing solutions.

  • Measures and reports KPI’s to include budget, ROI, customer programming tracking etc.

  • Balances strategic planning efforts with day to day demands.

  • Develops an understanding of Customer Marketing principles and barriers to purchase, to include deep understanding of KUBE segmentation and Consumer Decision Journeys.

  • Participates in the development of and implements a successful vision/strategy, through strong leadership skills.

  • Researches and monitors all aspects of competitive in-store activities and recommends potential counter actions to Customer Development and Brand or Commerce teams.

  • Executes national customer development programs.

  • Manages execution of non in-store activities to leverage with customer/channel (e.g. local sponsorships, trade press).

  • Develops the optimal Customer Marketing programs based on customers' unique marketing tools.

  • Implements the execution of the annual integrated Customer and/or sub-channel marketing plan for brands and major retail customers as assigned.

 

Cross Functional Partnership


  • Participates in partner/invest customer presentations as local embedded Marketing expert.

  • Communicates Customer Marketing activity with key distributors and/or internal partners.

  • Ensures that all programs are delivered on time and complete to Customer Development and Distributor Management teams.

  • Partners with Customer Development, E-Retail and Category Management to build and execute key customer Joint Business Plans.

  • Works with Brand and Commerce Marketing to build long-term brand equity and improve consumer awareness while helping achieve short-term annual sales objectives.

  • Establishes appropriate partnerships that will enhance our branded efforts and further our “Category Captain” position by delivering concepts capitalizing on emerging industry trends.

  • Collaborates with Brand Marketing, Commerce Marketing, Sales Managing Directors, Digital, Shopper Operations & Finance, creative, e-Retail and insights to develop the yearly plan based on key shopper/guest insights for their respective channel.

  • Collaborates across DRIVE team to find the best and most efficient solutions, processes, outcomes and ways of working.

  • Develops and nurtures regional relationships and programs with partners such as CPG companies and food brokers.

 

Leadership


  • Ensures employee conformance to established best practices and proper training of staff.

  • Develops or approves recommendations to change systems, policies, and procedures; ensures timely and accurate implementation.

  • Identifies and obtains staff resources and capabilities needed to accomplish objectives.

  • Monitors and ensures achievement of performance goals and objectives either directly or through subordinate staff.  

  • Drives for efficiency and effectiveness of assigned budgets. Delivers annual activity on or below budget for each individual Business Unit.

  • Manages the creative process (including all briefs) for program and POS development ensuring that our brands get the highest quality creative development from our agencies and follow brand guidelines.

  • Develops, coaches, and mentors subordinate staff.

 

What You Will Need


  • MBA degree plus 5 years of communications, finance, marketing, sales or CPG shopper marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; -OR- Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of communications, finance, marketing, sales or CPG shopper marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; -OR- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of Gallo specific marketing or sales experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

  • Required to travel by airplane and automobile to perform job duties.

 

What Will Set You Apart


  • MBA degree plus 7 years of communications, finance, marketing, sales or CPG shopper marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Skilled in statistical analysis and problem solving.

  • Knowledge of E. & J. Gallo Strategic Imperatives as outlined by the CEO and the Gallo Executive Leadership Team.

  • Experience leading and directing a change process.

  • Experience communicating with all levels of an organization.

  • Experience obtaining cooperation and maintaining relationships in the pursuit of goals.

  • Experience influencing, negotiating and resolving conflicts to reach consensus around common goals.

  • Experience making effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.

  • Skilled in quickly grasping key business drivers.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written).

  • Experience successfully leading teams and partnering with other corporate functions to achieve success in a dynamic work environment.

  • Experience addressing strategic issues as well as day-to-day operational concerns.

  • Experience staffing and developing an organization.

  • Leadership/management strength to provide motivational guidance and direction.
