Requisition Summary


PACCAR Global Connected Services is hiring a Connected VehicleDesign Engineer. This position will support development activities in the Connected Vehicleteam. The engineer will have the opportunity to provide innovative problem solving in a product development and service environment. This role will interface with production employees, production supervisors, product engineering, plant engineering, management, suppliers, and customers. The role will require collaboration with other PACCAR companies: Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF, PACCAR Technical Center, Information Technology Division, Vehicle Support Center, and the PACCAR Engine Company.

This position can be based in either Kirkland, WA or Denton, TX.

Job Functions / Responsibilities


* Define and develop Connected Vehicle and Remote Diagnostics features.
* Manage the relationship between business partners, project teams and vendors.
* Understand and communicate business needs in order to analyze and develop technical solutions that meet these needs.
* Perform tasks associated with pre-project consulting and business case development.
* Elicit high level project objectives and project success criteria.
* Identify dependencies between projects and other systems.
* Accurately estimate time required to complete business analysis tasks and deliverables.
* Collect and analyze the project's business requirements and transfer the same knowledge to development team.
* Evaluate the data collected through task analysis, business process, surveys and workshops.
* Prepare accurate and detailed requirement specifications documents, user interface guides, and functional specification documents.
* Communicate effectively with business and internal teams to deliver product's functional requirements like screen, interface, and GUI designs.
* Facilitate workshops to scope projects and gather detailed product requirements.
* Perform end-to-end validation of new features; from the vehicle to web portal.
* Research data to uncover root cause and initiate resolution.
* Support other investigations, using Data Analytics tools.
* Use Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques to manage engineering projects.
* Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related degree is required.

Skills / Competencies


* Commercial vehicle background, including SAE J1939, service, vehicle controls, and telematics.
* Experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components desirable.
* Past experience working onsite at a PACCAR facility desirable but not required.
* Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets.
* Familiarity with project management methods and tools.
* Experience with Data Analytics and Data Visualizations tools is a plus.
* Experience with software development cloud computing is desirable.
* Candidate should be willing to make use of industry standard processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
* Requires independent judgement and effective project management.
* Ability to manage costs, time and resources; strong communication skills.
* Must demonstrate ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and respond dynamically to shifting priorities.
