About the Role:

A Site Reliability Engineer works as a front-line responder and member of a 24/7 global team. This role is critical to ensuring our products are available, so our customers are protected. This fast-paced team requires excellent communication skills, analytical thinking, problem solving.

As a member of the Norton Site Reliability Tier 1 team you will be part of a follow the sun model team and experience a wide variety of technologies and challenges, including:


  • Triage and respond to critical alerts


  • Engage


  • Learn and understand a complex ecosystem


  • Manage an incident from beginning to end and complete a retrospective


  • Research and investigate production application defects and provide solutions for resolution


  • Research and investigate production system incidents


  • Utilize and tune monitoring tools


  • Document and communicate progress on resolving issues


  • Communicate regularly and effectively with globally dispersed teams


  • Build relationships with external teams, and resources


  • Follow established team processes for partner communication


  • Assist with testing and validating production applications


  • Support cloud infrastructure and automate repetitive operational functions


Minimum Qualifications


  • Respond to critical Application Alerts


  • Developing and maintaining high-quality monitoring tools


  • Start and lead technical troubleshooting sessions


  • Incident Management, Change Management and Release Management.


  • Research and investigate production application defects and provide solutions for resolution


  • Research and investigate production system incidents


  • Assist with creation and tuning of monitoring tools


  • Document and communicate progress on resolving issues


  • Communicate regularly with globally dispersed teams


  • Build relationships with external teams, and resources


  • Follow established team processes for partner communication


  • Assist with testing and validating production applications


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university.


  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS


  • Experience with Rundeck/Ansible and Jenkins.


  • Expertise in UNIX / LINUX / Solaris / Windows Operating Systems


  • Development experience of 3 plus years either with Python or Ruby.


  • Shell scripting experience


  • Clear understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies.


  • Experience with Oracle Database query tools, including the ability to write SQL queries


  • Understanding of Client/server/database architecture


  • Able to articulate strong stance for product quality and customer satisfaction, balancing business goals and commitments with quality objectives


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • Must be able to work effectively in globally distributed team structure


  • Experience of 3 plus years with server and application monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Nagios, Splunk, NewRelic, Sensu, Graphite, LogStash, etc)
