Overview


The Woodcraft Worker makes and repairs high-grade wooden items such as fine cabinets and furniture, studies blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired, and plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed. This worker marks outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock, according to blueprint or drawing specifications, matches materials for color, grain, or texture, sets up and operates woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointer, mortiser, tenoner, molder, and shaper, to cut and shape parts from woodstock. This worker trims component parts of joints to insure snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files; bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine, glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit using clamps or clamping machine, and drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints. This worker sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing, may dip, brush, or spray assembled articles with protective or decorative materials, such as stain, varnish or paint, and may install hardware, such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls.


DUTIES INCLUDE: The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.

  • Performs general maintenance repair to buildings, structures, fences, concrete, asphalt pads, range support facilities, LRC obstacles, and similar training support structures.

Working Conditions:

Conditions will vary. Work will be conducted in and outdoors with temperature variations. Work will consist of 35% standing, 40% walking, 5% stooping, 10% reaching, 10% lifting. Ability to perform under rugged conditions and items up to 40 lbs alone, over 40 with assistance.

Normal Working hours are Monday-Friday 0600 - 1430


Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Have minimum five (5) years' experience in the stated functions (two (2) of which are in a supervisory capacity
  • Requires a valid Driver's License; Must be able to be insured through Company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of your work employment
  • U S Citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • All candidates will be required to pass a consumer report and/or consumer investigation to include SSN, Driver Record and Criminal Background Investigation.
